Re: My first voyage with Voyager

I thought "Course: Oblivion" was a risky episode, and one of the best strictly sci-fi concepts the show ever did. It was almost like a Philip K. Dick novel. Have liked it much better on rewatches.

And it's got one of the many deaths of Janeway, so how can you not like it? How many times did Janeway "die" in the show, anyway?

"Course: Oblivion" has a lot of good stuff fans would like to see in a speculative way; it's a bittersweet, touching episode.

Janeway is not to have a baby.

I don't mind if she kinda adopts one, in an auntish way but that's it.

But she's already done that... twice.

B'Elanna...

and

Seven.

oops!

Make that, THREE times...

Harry!

And don't forget that Q boy.

One of her strongest qualities is she is maternal.

But if Treklit makes her pregnant with a real human baby I will.. well, I'll do something. With swear words and exclamation marks.

How pissed off would the J/C'ers be if the fake J and C actually got it on, waking up in bed next to each other, the whole deal and then it was the fake ones!!! Quite a troll.
Probably not as much as what we actually got, and I can tell you there were a lot of pretty pissed fans out there. That's why there is far more Voyager fan fiction on FanFiction.net than all the other Treks combined. That's why there is even a face book group for J/C fan fiction recommendations even to this day.

It is also what sparked all the - Now Tea Cake please cover your eyes, I love you the way you are and I respect your favorite paring - I'm just reporting -

"Die Seven Die" fan fiction contests around the ending of the show.

You can look now.

And all the let's get together and fix this travesty fan fictions generated since then. I think the last thing the J/C fandom actually did as a whole before the huge big breakup in 2003 was a novel called "Tying The Threads."

The first fan fiction I wrote was a fix "Endgame" fic. around 2003. I plotted out and then tried to give it to my daughter, but she made me write it. Now I am working on an original novel. Maybe I should be grateful to the producers but I'm not lol.
As a fellow J/Cer, I understand. It's the reason it pains me to re-watch Endgame. :/

I think Seven was an awesome addition to the show and I think she is hilarious...just not for Chakotay.

So cruel. Did 7 ask for Janeway to reject both her and Chakotay and drive them into each other's arms? No!

I'm still in shock they J/C'd it for reals in Treklit, never expected that. Not because there wasn't reason for it but because Treklit seemed hellbent on Janeway getting nothing but pain. Hopefully in the next book(s) it's just a normal, good relationship and not an angst excuse like with the TNG couples.
I was SO happy with Eternal Tide...not only does Janeway come back to life, but one of the last scenes is her in bed with Chakotay saying "I love you."

Made me happy at least~

If there is a next book and it's nothing but J/C angst and pain I will pretend it doesn't exist...

Come on... you have to admit it felt natural in the book!

TrekLit Chakotay is better than real Chakotay, I think, anyway.

That's because even though he still doesn't say or do much, we can tell what he's thinking in book form!

I have to disagree there. Real Chakotay was a pleasant man. Treklit Chakotay spent what felt like several books crying and hiding in caves.

Hopefully he's past all that.
