Twenty more years of action figure collecting. It's going to kill us...stone dead.

We both knew Star Wars figures would never end.

True, but this means at least twice as many, and we still might get the live-action SW television series Rick McCallum's been talking about for the past couple of years. I don't know whether to leap for joy and kiss the sky or pop a cyanide capsule.

Still...I love this hobby.

I'm so glad I never really got into collecting SW figures.

At least for now most of the brand new characters come from the Clone Wars animated series and the Expanded Universe literature and video games, so for the next few years the numbers of new figures should be somewhat predictable and reasonable. After the new Trilogy kicks off, though, it's gonna be Thunderdome in Walmarts and Toys 'R' Us stores.

My first case of the final wave of The Vintage Collection just showed up!

I know a guy who has his family entertainment room decked out as his Star Wars shrine. On the entire left side of the wall is a huge 20' mounted case that has 4 layers per section and is mirrored so you can see the figs backs. Each of the 5 sections is mounted end-to-end for one long affect. It starts with the orig figs from the trilogy and moves through each film. He and I were talking after all this Episodes 7-9 announcement and he reiterated the sentiment I'm reading by here and by other die hard SW collectors. Crap another 10-15yrs of figs easily....where will I put them? I told him his book shelves on the other side of the wall need a new home apparently. He thinks his wife wouldn't go for both walls as a shrine to plastic action figures. Imagine that.

So far I can confine almost all of my collection to just one room, but I have the luxury of keeping certain items in plastic storage tubs with lids to save some space. Yeah, the 2015-2025 period for collecting is going to be hectic, possibly moreso than the Prequel era of 1999-2005 was since the Sequel Trilogy will have more beloved and classic characters than Episodes I, II and III and might be received a whole lot better by the fans.

I call internet gossip on that one. Someone somewhere said that since Disney bought Lucasfilms, they might buy the company that makes Star Wars toys too and away we go...

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't wondered about Disney buying Hasbro after they took over Lucasfilm (Hasbro and - before it - Kenner have been the primary toy and collectible makers for SW since 1977-78) and it might be a possibility in the future, but for right now I'm gonna agree with C.E. and call it a Web rumor and nothing more.

Just got the confirmation my second case of Vintage Wave 16 will be here today! Sweet. I was worried at first it might be hard to score an online exclusive wave (and the last one for the next couple of years) that has a more limited production run, but it's been a piece of cake for the most part. It's looking for most 2012 figures in stores that's been a ginormous pain in the butt.
