Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

^ I wish Miz could be on commentary every week, he's outstanding at colour!

Looks like WWE has convinced Heyman to stay and work with superstars other than Brock Lesnar. Heyman brings that edge to the table, but it seems irrelevant when John Cena is going to end up doing what he usually does - coming out on top and remaining the dominant focus of the WWE product. It might not happen at NOC - it shouldn't if WWE intends to treat Punk as Cena's equal in the feud - but at some point, Cena is going to become WWE Champion.

I love it when WWE is in Chicago, most of the people who regularly attend WWE events are your "no-shit" wrestling fan types who'll cheer for the wrestlers who have good matches and who know how to cut promos, regardless of their alignment. WWE used to hate this kind of stuff, but in recent years they've began to acknowledge it. Chicago crowds, in particular, seem to despise John Cena and this is reflected in the nuclear heat that follows any mention of his name. Sheamus also found out that there was no chance in hell that anybody was going to cheer his one dimensional, unfunny promo, especially when hometown hero, CM Punk was present.

Chicago is their best crowd. Oh...and after tonight...you guys will probably mock me...but I still haven't let go of my nWo hope I absolutely couldn't get over how AWESOME Miz was on commentary. He's better than freakin' Cole, but that really doesn't surprise me. He's always been great on the mic.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

I can't see the nWo coming back, because it isn't an original creation of WWE, and you know how they've been about original creations in the last few years - FCW names, anyone?

I honestly believe that the only reason the nWo appeared back in 2002 was because Hogan, Nash and Hall all wanted to return to WWE, the opportunity was too good to pass up and most importantly, because they needed a way to bring in Hulk Hogan as a heel and they weren't going to turn The Rock at that stage. It kept going for a while afterwards because there was some initial interest in it and WWE was quite happy with what it was bringing in via merchandise sales.

If anything, I think the most likely stable of the past to make a return is the Four Horsemen, since Ric Flair looks set to return shortly in some kind of managerial role. There has been talk about pairing him with Dolph Ziggler. When I think about it, I could see Flair resurrecting the Horsemen (like Fortune, but the proper name, licensing and entrance music) with Dolph Ziggler and 3 other superstars that WWE wants to push, who need a legendary mouthpiece and the prestige of being a member of the Four Horsemen to their names.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

I hear ya. I can't help it. You guys should know by now I am an unabashed nWo mark...I've been pushing for this the past year. This will obviously turn out to be something else, and something new (hopefully)...but the thought is still there! Regarding Heyman and Punk...I believe the two of them are friends or something like that or Punk requested working with him.

I agree with you regarding the 2002 edition. Oh and speaking of Ric Flair, Bischoff tweeted about him last night. Said he Ric called him and Ric was still funny. Eric didn't elaborate.

Great Raw. Really enjoyed it. That has to be the best WWE TV main event for quite some time.

Agreed about the match. Cena still can't sell anything though. LOL. I think that was probably one of Del Rio's best matches in a while.

Just looks wrong. Like when Bobby Roode did it.

^ Short hair is the new long hair for wrestling now. It's like all those guys who ditched the tights in favour of trunks as they became main eventers.

Unless of course you are John Cena, in which case you start out by wearing trunks before switching to Jorts, and finally landing upon the "happy medium" of cargo shorts. (btw, his level of muscle mass in the first photo is grotesque)

That reminds me, forgot about this: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...restlemania-29

It was a subject given to me to do. I made every effort to not just say "He's feckin' shoite, fella".

I noticed Punk cut his hair again recently as well...and trimmed his beard. He looks better IMO with short hair and trimmed his beard. Reminds me of his Nexus heel look

Don't even think about it!

Yeah, the regular reinvention thing has been something of a new addition to the world of WWE. Like Triple H for example, he's had long hair as far back as his Terra Ryzing WCW days (and probably beyond). In the past, it seemed like a lot of the guys reinvented their look when they start to show their age, but this is no longer the case - although both CM Punk and Steve Austin had clearly aged between the first and second photos that I had posted.

Repacking is the "newer" term I think is being used these days. Haircuts seem to be a rather big part of it as the picture collage posted above so nicely demonstrated. Not all the time, but most of the time. It seems like the most simple way of repackaging a guy.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

MORE fantasy booking.

I've been thinking about Wrestlemania and I've come up with a cool, yet possible method of booking.

CM Punk holds off John Cena capturing the WWE Championship until Survivor Series, where Cena ends Punk's year long reign. At HIAC, Cena retains in the rematch and the build for Cena vs Rock part II at Royal Rumble begins. At the RR, Cena defeats Rock after CM Punk interferes, citing that "he's not done with Dwayne yet" and that he'll "be damned if an outsider is allowed to wear the WWE Championship".

The next night on Raw, Cena comes a promo, admonishing Punk's actions. The next few weeks play off the possible conspiracy that Punk and Cena conspired to stop The Rock leaving as WWE Champion until CM Punk attacks Cena and saying "I'll see you in the elimination chamber!" - thus concluding that Punk had been solely responsible and was spreading false truths to tarnish Cena's confidence.

Anyway come Elimination Chamber and one of the spots is vacated just before the event, the Raw GM (whoever that might be) promises it will be filled. This makes it think that The Rock will be the mystery entrant...but - HERE COMES THE PAIN! Brock Lesnar is the mystery entrant! During the match Cena manages to eliminate Punk via fluke rollup, but Punk isn't done and demolishes Cena before leaving the chamber. Lesnar then F5's Cena and eliminates him before dominating the rest of the match and walking out WWE Champion.

The next night, Cena and Punk have a bitch off which ends with the GM putting them in a match to occur at Wrestlemania, but then IF YA SMELL! The Rock comes out and verbally cleans house, he states that he has a big problem with both of them and wants them at Wrestlemania. We're then on for a triple threat match which will be billed as three of the most controversial and outspoken superstars meeting each other in a match for the ages. (or something like that)

Meanwhile, Triple H returns and wins the WHC, perhaps in the chamber or at the Royal Rumble. Brock Lesnar comes out the night after Elimination Chamber as WWE Champion and talks about how he "essentially owns the company as WWE Champion" and that he intends to "leave the WWE with the championship because no one is good enough to go toe to toe with him, therefore no one deserves to hold the WWE Championship". TIME TO PLAY THE GAME! Triple H comes out and says that "I'm going to make it real simple, you and me, Wrestlemania XXIX, both world titles on the line and a huge score to settle". Lesnar can't resist the opportunity and accepts, Triple H then attacks him, gets the upper hand and stands dominate in the ring with the idea being that the old Triple H has FINALLY returned!
