Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

^ Agreed, they have created a build following the match in order to do the same thing again, despite their being no doubt as to whether Sheamus can beat Alberto Del Rio - thus the eventual payoff is ruined before it has begun because the face (or fan favourite) has overcome the heel (or least favourite of the fans). IMO, a good build should take it's time if there are no plans for an immediate rematch or a feud. If there are plans for a rematch and a feud then the face should preferably lose the first encounter, or the match should end in a DQ/Double DQ/Count out finish, or a screwy finish where the heel cheats to win, or the face takes the win but only after being taken to the limit in a match that could have gone either way (and bonus points if the heel is the only one able to leave the ring on his or her own merit).

Bit of a random but does anyone remember those incredibly awful Tim White skits in which Josh Matthews would encounter White backstage trying to commit suicide in weird and inventive ways only to fail each time?

Here's a bit of a light hearted humour for the day. Check out Mene Gene's reaction as Ken Patera fails at cutting a promo!

WWE has added Bastista to it's alumni page, in case anyone cares. They finally did this with Sting earlier in the year.

Can't remember now if I posted this or not...but here's the first trailer for CM Punk's upcoming DVD. The quality is shit, all the youtube posted ones I searched for seem to this way unfortunately.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

Apparently Kevin Nash went on some sort of rant stating that the industry "dying" at Wrestlemaina 20 when Benoit and Eddie ended the show as WWE's champions. Jericho in particular's response started a twitter battle between the two. These are Nash's comment:

"When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business. Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I'm sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you're not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That's not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion."

So I ask you guys. Is Nash right? Or is this another example of Nash being a moron?

Nah, WWE was doomed when Evolution started cunting the place up and HHH would hold a world title for 5 years straight.

I wasn't aware a guy's height is what made him a good or even a believable wrestler, let alone champion. Kevin Nash is a clownshoe. I mean really, has he ever been right?

To use Kevin's own analogy, At least those guys with "3 inch dicks" know more than 2 sexual positions and don't tear their quad while getting a bj.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

Chris Jericho's immediate response to this was hilarious...

"Funny how @realkevinnash says wrestling “died” when Benoit and Guerrero were champs-Yet the worst year for WWE biz was 95 when he was on top."

Nash responded:

"Once again the puppet master pulls the marks strings .Knew Jericho was a closet mark.First one eliminated on a bulls--t sing show...REALLY!!"

then the best one LOL.

"Hope @realkevinnash doesn’t tear his quad tweeting! #typicalbigman #nwothirdwheel."

I'm guessing this rant doesn't endear Nash well for wanting...ONE MORE MATCH!!!

We all know that Nash likes to do this kind of stuff because he's still stuck in that "marketability" mindset in where he feels that he needs to get a hot storyline going, regardless of whether he is capable of working, or whether people actually care about him.

As for his statement about Benoit and Guerrero, both men were heavy users of steroids at that time and in terms of muscle mass, were as big as, if not bigger than many of the guys on the roster who were taller than them. You are just as likely to notice a person with a massive physique as you are a particularly tall person.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

There's been talk that CM Punk will drop the WWE Championship to John Cena at Summerslam. Cena will then lose the WWE Championship to The Rock at Royal Rumble and thus setting up a match between Rock and Punk at Wrestlemania XXIX.

Whilst I think that Punk/Rock is definitely the right idea for WM, I think that Cena needs to win the WWE Championship closer to the Royal Rumble. I say this because whilst Cena is the champion - he seldom loses, much less than he does anyway and rather than having him win the title, lose it and then win it back (however many times) before Royal Rumble, I feel it makes more sense for him just to have the one reign.

I therefore propose that Big Show wins the WWE Championship at Summerslam and continues as champion until Survivor Series (depending on whether he draws) where Cena will win the title and star the build towards his Royal Rumble match with The Rock. Of course, there is always the option for CM Punk to retain at Summerslam, then go onto a rematch at Night Of Champions where Cena will win the title in front of his hometown crowd.

^In regards to Cena getting one long championship reign vs. several shorter ones post Summerslam: He's a twelve time World Champion right now. (WWE Champion-10 times, World Heavyweight Championship 2 times) I don't know if I see him surpassing Ric Flair or Triple H.

I'd rather SuperCena stay out of the title hunt for another year or two. He's been WWE champ 10 times, which is AT LEAST five times too many. If Punk absolutely must drop the belt, I'd love to see it on someone new, even if they don't really deserve it. Hell, even Big Show would be a great idea, even though he wouldn't be "someone new" (being a former 2-time champ)! I also don't see why the WWE title can't go retro like the IC title did. Any one of the past designs is better than the one they've had since Cena took over as their #1 guy.

He's still young enough that it'll probably happen. The very idea of him winning more world championships than Ric Flair is mind-boggling.

Re: General Pro Wrestling News and Discussion Thread Part Deux!

I don't see Triple H surpassing Ric Flair's record, purely because I think that Trips has only got a year or two of full time competition left in him and that he's happier to do sporadic big draw matches (like his matches with Undertaker and Lesnar) than wrestle full time and do the championship thing.

I don't think John Cena will do it either, but that's because I have a feeling that Cena doesn't intend to wrestle past the age of 40 (he's 35 now) and I think he's likely to try his hand at other endeavours before then. If Edge had been able to go another couple of years, I could see him beating Triple H's reigns, but not Flair's.
