April '12 Challenge Entry: "Redshirt Haiku"

A Haiku for the April 2012 Challenge, "Abandoned"

Red shirt bleeding out

Shirts of gold beaming away

Left for dead. Bastards.

I like it. Your avatar rounds it all off.

This could be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time! Thanks TLR.

What happened to the poor security officer? And why are fellow Starfleet officers leaving one of their own in such critical condition? And how come .... oh, haiku, I get it.

Count Zero - Thanks! I'm rather fond of the avatar.

Bry - Glad it gave you a laugh.

CeJay - I actually had planned a complete story about a hapless redshirt who was left behind during a brief but fierce planet-side skirmish with Klingons.

Then I thought, 'What the heck - just cut to the chase.'

The above haiku is dedicated to all the redshirts who assumed room temperature in the line of duty.
