Re: Avengers Vs. X-Men -- Speculation, Spoilers, and Discussion
Psylocke is still British, she's just also "physically" Asian. In the real world, there are more than one or two British citizens who... Oh? You just didn't understand what you were saying when you said it? Been there. (Hourly.) In the mid 90s a seemingly Japanese assassin showed up who was driving Betsie's original body but with her hard core born and raised pure-bred anime themed super ninja mental state, despite for all intents and purposes being a roundeyes member of the British Aristpocracy. (How many places in the queue did Brian Jump for succession to the throne when he went public as a Super Hero?) I think there was some bleed over between the two during the process, when they traded places in the changeover, since when the dust settled, they were both purple haired telepaths. Legacy virus.

Re: Avengers Vs. X-Men -- Speculation, Spoilers, and Discussion
Was Betsy was a shitty character? fashion model purple haired spy mutant with battle armour who had been blinded by Slaymaster, and gutted by Sabretooth, awarded mechanical eyes by Mojo to clandestinely televise the X-men in a Faustian contract... Who was futilely in love with Cypher, a child almost half her age. Sylvestri drew that armour kick ass. however.. What country is Jim Lee from? Korea. (Don't you mean America?) (Shut up!) That doesn't track. And the Mandarin was Chinese. (Yes, but The Hand is an international cartel of Ninjas.) (SHUT UP!) And this shit was all going down in Mandripoor that DOESN'T EXIST but I've always thought had a Cantonese vibe going for it! Fuck. It's like racial profiling doesn't work. Claremont invented Betsy in the 70s, so it's fair game whatever trials he and Jim thought up for Betsy in the last moments of the 80s. And really, if Psylocke was still an English Rose i doubt that there would be 12,300 image results from a cosplay query into google about Psylocke. It's amazing how slowly I get stuff. You know how stupidly immature girls when they're in love with some one, that they write their true loves name over and over again in their journal, and then they write their own name altered temporally for post nuptials as if they had already taken their intendeds surname? It's a huge trope. Doug Ramsey didn't call himself Douglock because he was fused body and soul with Warlock... it's because he wanted to marry Psylocke and she'd get to wear the pants after he took her name. Don't you remember what it's like to be that in love?

Trust Hope. Will post thoughts on Scott's visit to the Jean Grey School in Wolverine and the X-Men and the Avengers reaction in X-Men Legacy a little later.

Re: Avengers Vs. X-Men -- Speculation, Spoilers, and Discussion
Neither of these did much to make either Wolverine or the Avengers look good. In WatXM, Cyclops comes to the Jean Grey School to talk with Wolverine, but Wolvie goes after Cyke with claws popped. It isn't until Emma punches him in the head that Wolverine listens to what Cyke has to say. Not a lot of action in this issue, but it's the interactions that shine here. The exchanges between Kitty, Rachel and Emma were gold, and Quentin coming on to Illyana was hilarious. The talk between Scott and Logan was basically just a re-hash of what's been said before, with neither convincing the other of anything. However, Cyke does pick up a few allies in the form of Iceman, (Nu)Angel, Rachel and Gambit. I liked how Bobby told Wolverine that he didn't leave Utopia and return to Westchester with Logan because he lost faith in Scott, he did it because Logan needed him. Now Scott needs him and he is going to help his oldest friend, but hopes he still has a place at the JGSFHL after the dust settles. Rachel, as a former Phoenix host herself, believes that she can help Hope deal with the power and leaves with that intention. Wolverine tries to convince them that they should fight with the Avengers as they just want to help Hope (Without, of course, telling them that he plans on killing her). Wolvie's silence after Idie asked him to make sure that nothing bad happened to Hope was telling. All in all, a decent issue that, like other AvX crossovers, read better than the event itself. In X-Men Legacy 266, the Avengers, in the form of She-Hulk, Falcon and Moon Knight arrive at the Jean Grey School in order to ensure that no more of Logan's faculty switches sides. This isn't taken well by the X-Men at the school, as the Avengers are basically playing thought-police with the school and staff, preventing them from making their own choices. Frenzy provokes Moon Knight into crossing the proverbial "line in the sand" and the fight is on. Rogue tries to keep things calm despite things like the white-hooded Moon Knight refering to the X-Men as "you people", but comes unhinged when She-Hulk accidently injures a student. The issue ends with Iron Man's arrival.
