What happens to affirmative action when blacks will be the majority?

Affirmative Action protects minorities. Should it happen that "white" people become a minority, then they will fall under the protection of Affirmative Action. I believe you will then find much less protesting, for some reason.

As for "people of color", we're all people of color. Better yet, we're all people.

The OP proceeds from a false assumption or three.

First of all, the topic title is wrong on many counts. Blacks—assuming you mean African Americans—won't be in the majority. "Whites" as a "race" will eventually be less than 50% of the population, but that doesn't make them a minority. To be a minority some other single "race" has to exceed them in numbers.

Second, the trick with these statistics is that there are demographic differences between race and ethnicity. Latino is an ethnicity as far as the census goes, but not a race. Ergo, you can be white and latino, or black and latino, asian and latino, or mixed race and latino, etc.

Finally, Affirmative Action programs were designed to combat systemic and institutional discrimination, something that would be unlikely to be applicable to any group that was the majority but falls out of being same, especially in a country that is increasingly mixed in terms of race and ethnicity.
