Although half the time I'm not quite sure what's going on, this thread has been very funny, particularly thanks to teacake and Guy Gardener. You guys are great.

I've never paid much attention to them but apparently tags can be added or removed by any user on the board. If all the Janeway tags were removed that means someone did a search then deleted them. Quite frankly I'm not sure if I pity or envy the person who has that kind of time to spend.

At any rate I wouldn't take the tag cloud too seriously. This is indeed an instance where size does NOT matter.

Edited to add: Just realized I missed the 47th post in this thread by ONE. Okay, NOW I'm upset...

Thank you kimc for you reply! It never occurred to me that it was removed by a non-mod member who wanted janeway out of the tag cloud, I assumed it was either a mod decision about the cloud itself or a glitch. Kind of icky.

Removing it from the entire history of the BBS would certainly take a LOT of time.

And now I have some work to do..

It couldn't have been. Kimc is right in that anyone can add a tag, but regular members can only remove the tags they themselves added.

Try removing the "janeway" tag I added to this thread. You'll see a greyed-out checkbox that can't be clicked.

I still think a mod must have removed the tags.

Sometimes an admin will remove a word from the cloud if it's kind of redundant. Or if people obviously know where to go to discuss a topic. Janeway topics are pretty much going to be in here. Another example would be the word "Voyager." It doesn't need to be mega sized in the cloud as there is a whole forum devoted to it. Don't take offense to anything in the tag cloud. It gets cleaned from time to time. No conspiracy. Maybe.
