I wonder...

I wonder if the writers for Into Darkness had read John Ford's The Final Reflection prior to writing the story for the new movie. Anyone remember the Battleship Vengeance show in the novel?

Orci and Abram's other underlings are reportedly big fans of Star Trek novels. In fact, while casting the main characters for Trek XI, the actors were given excerpts from novels to read for their auditions.

I never thought of Battleship Vengeance! But I did very much think of The Final Reflection, and "the naked stars" when I saw the ultra-thick cloud cover over Kronos.

Yes, it's their only saving grace!
