Re: The TNG Quiz

Just sticking to the show:

Hide and Q (time suspended)
We'll Always Have Paris (time repeated)
Time Squared (backwards time travel -- other Picard)
Cause and Effect (time loop)
Time's Arrow, Part I (backwards time travel)
Time's Arrow, Part II (returns to present)
Tapestry (backwards time travel)
Timescape (time slowed/accelerated)
All Good Things... (Forward and backward time travel)

"Qpid" probably doesn't qualify? But then, does "Tapestry" or even "All Good Things"?

Re: The TNG Quiz

Both of you have seven from my list. Together you have come up with 8. Movies are included. Picard actually doesn't time travel in Yesterday's Enterprise. Others do, but not him. Inner Light was a mind probe. He didn't actually go there. I also counted all the events of Time's Arrow as one event... I guess. Mainly looking for each story that included a Picard time travel event

Q's encounters are all debatable, but I included Tapestry, because it's almost exactly the same event as in All Good Things... even if Picard wasn't sure whether it was real or not. In both, he interacted with people from a different time period of his life. Those people did not seem Q generated, but rather authentic. Unlike Q-Pid, which uses what seems like characters endowed with free will, & no indication that this is anything but a Q creation

Hadn't really considered Hide & Q, but it's hard to argue against, since I've included 2 other Q events. Did they actually mention time being suspended?

I thought the quiz only pertained to the show?

Code:
                TASHA
There has been no interruption
in course or speed. Both have
remained constant. Captain -- it's
as though we never stopped.

Picard straightens up.

                 PICARD
We never did. "Q" suspended time.

I've seen the quiz apply to all the TNG material, but yeah, I guess Hide & Q should count

I suppose either of you could go next

Re: The TNG Quiz

According to Data in "Relics," the interior surface area of the Dyson sphere is equivalent to roughly how many M-Class planets?

***

Totally unnecessary extra credit question:

If the total enclosed volume of the Dyson sphere is 4.19 x 10^24 km^3 (4.19 septillion cubic kilometers), how many Earths would fit inside it?

250 million planets

Totally unnecessary extra credit question:

Math is hard.

Re: The TNG Quiz

Correct!

Totally unnecessary extra credit answer: 3,868,132,680,000 Earths (nearly 4 trillion)!

^ That's a lot of planets! I'm just starting a BS in Psy partly because math is not one of my strong suits.

How many times and in which episodes was Geordi La Forge seemingly or believed killed over the course of TNG (including movies)?

Re: The TNG Quiz

Is this a trick question, because I'm coming up with Zero.

Edit: Then I am going to kick myself when answered, because I'm drawing a blank. Must be the Mad Cow.

Re: The TNG Quiz

Rebooted my brain. Note to self, don't try to answer unless I can focus. Lets try this again.

Hide and Q (battle with the animal things)

Time Squared (implied all but Picard got toasted)

Yesterdays Enterprise (implied all)

Cause and Effect (all, at least 4 times)

The Next Phase (presumed with Ro)

Parallels (at least once)

All Good Things (all, 3 times/time periods)

Re: The TNG Quiz

Let's see:

Time Squared (enterprise destroyed)
Cause and Effect (Enterprise shown exploding 4 times, but chronometers off by 17.4 days)
The Next Phase (believed dead)
Parallels (alternate reality death)
All Good Things... (on board present and future Enterprises when they explode)
ST: Generations (dies aboard crashed Enterprise saucer when Veridian star obliterates Veridian III)

So, ten times?

***

You could make the argument that Geordie is seemingly killed from the Ferengis point of view in "Peak Performance." You could also argue that the alternate Enterprise in "Yesterday's Enterprise" was about to explode and in any case that timeline was wiped out so that La Forge would also "die." In "Remember Me" from Beverly's point of view he ceases to exist. And in "Disaster" Ro argues that everyone in the stardrive section might be dead, which would include Geordie.

Re: The TNG Quiz

Alrik, you forgot Generations. Sorry man.

Maxwell Everett: I wasn't including those that you could argue except Yesterdays Enterprise since it's strongly implied.

But, other than that, it's your go.
