Was the Dominion War ever mentioned during the show's run?

I can't remember. I mean I know there was that one episode where they were able to send messages back to the Alpha Quadrant, but did anyone in the Alpha Quadrant tell them that they were in a horrific war with the Dominion? I can imagine that if they had found out they would've been sort of glad that they were in the Delta Quadrant lol. I mean yeah they would've said, "Alright, we have the Borg to deal with, but hey, at least we aren't in a losing battle with the Dominion!"

In "Message in a Bottle", EMH-2 tells EMH-1 that "the Romulans haven't gotten involved in our fight with the Dominion".

I'm guessing that episode is set pre-"In the Pale Moonlight"

The Dominion was also alluded to obliquely in the next episode, "Hunters," when Chakotay gave B'Elanna the bad news that the Maquis had been wiped out. "It seems the Cardassians have an ally, a species from the Gamma Quadrant who supplied them with ships and weapons."

Tell me the Federation ended up winning this war. I only saw a couple of DS9s with the Dominion featuring, and I couldn't stand the snide, arrogant little tossers. Earth cannot lose to those arsewipes

You might go peruse the episode summaries on Memory Alpha. I'm sure they could give you a quick answer about how things ended up. But, this being Star Trek, yes, in the end, the Federation won (or at least wasn't defeated).

It's been awhile since I watched DS9, but I recall it ending in a bit of a stalemate and a negotiated peace, or something along those lines.

Yeah, it kind of takes the suspense away. You know in the end, multiple important characters aren't going to die in a single episode, and the current crisis will always be resolved in favor of the main cast. You very, very occasionally lose a main cast member, but that happens maybe once or twice in the whole series.

That's one thing that makes "A Song of Fire and Ice" rather refreshing, if a bit depressing at times.

Re: Was the Dominion War ever mentioned during the show's run?

I can barely remember this episode of Beany and Cecil where, where Dishonest John is all smug because he read the end of the script already and this is the one where the bad guys win, and the kid with the hat is going 'Nu-huh, evil never wins!" then it gets to the final curtain and the bad guy is victorious and DJ says "Told you so."

And I refuse to believe that there isn't fananimation on Youtube of Whiley Coyotee eating Road Runner.
