February 2012 Challenge: Dressing Down

The theme for the February 2012 Challenge is "Dressing Down."

And I'm not referring to casual Fridays.

Your challenge is to write a story where a character (or characters) receives a severe "dressing down" - a scenario where the character(s) is confronted with an actual or perceived failure, slight, insult, miscommunication, insensitive behavior, etc.

Possible scenarios . . .
- A verbal reprimand by a superior officer
- A spat between two people in a relationship
- A confrontation between peers
- A diplomatic faux pas

Use your imagination. Make it awkward. Make it intense. Make it emotional. Or make it funny. Just make it within the following boundaries:

Story must take place in the vast realm of Star Trek - any era, canon or fanon.
10,000 word limit
Must be your original work (plagiarists will receive a severe dressing down)
Must be NEW work - no re-runs of stories previously posted here or elsewhere.
Completed stories only. Please do not post installments / incomplete tales.
Post your story in a separate thread (identifying it as a challenge entry) and provide a link in this thread.
Deadline for submission - Wednesday, February 29, 8:00 p.m. Central Standard Time
Voting will take place March 1 - 4. More details at the time the polls open.

Anyways, thinking I might test the waters with a character from my 23rd century civvie crew concept for this challenge. Just have to see how it develops.

Here is my entry for this months challenge, featuring Rachel Keller (from the 23rd century civvie idea I have posted on the board). It deals with how her life in Starfleet came to an end, which ultimately led to her assuming command of the Ship.

I don't know if I'll do this or not... but when I first saw TNG:"The First Duty" when Picard dressed down Wesley, I felt like I was in trouble too. No one does it better than Picard!
