Alcatraz (FOX) "Pilot" & "Ernest Cobb" *Spoilers!*

Well it's not only Lucy as a non-prisoner present in the present. The doctor is here, too.

Still, some mysteries already besides the obvious "How did they get here/Where have they been?" The cop's grandfather seems to spend a lot of time in the hospital ward, with them taking his blood. The prisoners, for seemingly not knowing anything, seemed to adapt to 2012 damn well. If Lucy and the doctor reappeared, they don't seem to be able to provide much info. Hauser looks mighty fit for 70+. Hurley's regained all the weight he lost on the island.

The bad guys are really shown as being awful, which is honest for them being sent to Alcatraz. Who couldn't identify as just being out for the day...when suddenly a sniper fires. Disquieting feeling watching that.

Oh, and they have that mystery key from Flynn (who was killed in the first ep), and elevators that require a key to access? Coincidenza?

I'm wonder if Lucy and Dr. Beauregard are in 2012 not having aged a day if the warden is also here in the present and is running the faux Alcatraz where the prisoners are being held. Why is the doctor here? What's with all the blood tests? Are the prisoners time travelers, former suspended animation test subjects or could they be clones?

Hauser's very upset about Lucy. It's more than concern for a colleague...former lovers?

The guy playing Kit Nelson was very good just as he was on Fringe last season. Kit was a sick piece of work and I felt little sympathy for him when the prisoners kicked his ass while the guards stodd by and did nothing until ordered to stop it. While that's completely unacceptable I just don't feel sorry much for the guy.

I think I would enjoy watching a period show about the Warden of Alcatraz. That is one sick little man. He alone makes this show for me.

I've been watching a lot of criminal minds recently, and watching these guys trying to find those felons is just so elementary level... Sigh.

Anyway, why is this a J.J. Abrams show, when the creators of the show are not him and there are also other producers? I guess it is just his name to draw some attention, like with Lost and Fringe, where he barely is involved anyway.

Not to mention the 6th grade psychology they're using to figure all these guys out - "oh, trauma as an 11-year old means he's attacking 11 year olds" "trauma about his sister means he's attacking teenage girls".

Even the reveal of the other doctor's presence was like "yeah, fine, whatever". I don't think this show is going to hold me.

Seems like some of the 'good guys' like the Doctor and Lucy have already come back and are helping the government find out what happened to them and the others that went missing. We know the deputy warden must have been off the island since he was not one of the missing, as for the warden im guessing he disappeared too and may or may not have come back yet.

Sam Neil's character sure looks and down and moves his head around a lot.

After 3 episodes of Alcatraz, I'm thinking that my time is better spent watching Being Human at the 9PM timeslot and not having to stay up until midnight catching the second showing.

Really, that's what you've picked up so far?

It's pretty obvious that the good guys, aside from Blondie & Tubbs, are bad guys. Sam Neill's character was a close friend to the evil warden and the doctor is a sadist. The only one up in the air is the comatose chick, but she's pretty much 'bad by association' so far.

I'm guessing Blondie's grandfather had something special in his blood that the bad guys' organization was using to gain immortality/time travel/whatever capabilities, and were likely using the 63's as their test subjects. Throw in a bit of brainwashing and reprogramming here and there and you pretty much get what we've been seeing so far.
