Tabulated review threads sorted by average score - Page 3

If we're going to eventually do "classic review threads" for past novels, I don't think there's any need to really pester Stefan about it right now, since we'll get to that book eventually. Assuming the classic reviews would go in order of release date, that is.

That does bring up another question, though. If we're going to do classic review threads, how far back should we go? If we go way back, then at one book a week, it could take a very long time indeed for us to get through them all. Maybe it would be better to start with the beginning of the DS9 Relaunch/post-NEM era and work our way forward from there.

I agree that completing the backlog of more recent titles first would probably be more useful to more readers, also in terms of the ranking table. Many are just now trying to catch up with the new continuities, myself included.

But that might be boring to those all caught up, so maybe we should alternate?

No, I like the idea of starting in, oh, 2000 or 2001 or around there, when the DS9 relaunch was getting going. Maybe choose a few earlier novels to do here and there, like Lives Of Dax, Vendetta, and the early New Frontiers.

Yeah, I guess it makes sense to start with the various relaunches and probably Vanguard and New Frontier thrown in for good measure, as those are probably the books most people have read and which are still (relatively) fresh in people's memories.

I was a little behind getting to "Children of Kings", but I thought I recalled the usual number of people discussing the book when it came out.

^ No, not yet - I finished the book since, but I'm still mulling it over a bit before posting thread + review. After the interesting discussion we had recently and considering the magnitude of the act of launching a new series I don't want to post snap judgements, plus since it's a thread about an older book it probably needs a little more seeding to incite a lively debate.

Also, since this will (probably) be the first retro poll+review thread and the book has sequels, I want to include some good verbiage on spoiler policy / tips to balance the needs of first-time readers and those posting from hindsight, to make sure both types can enjoy it.

Besides: If I had already, you'd see it on the page!

Just to say that I'll definitely be participating in this project and reading and voting on older novels. I've been rereading a lot of old novels lately so someone to discuss them with will be a bonus.

I agree. I am doing the same thing bok, and it will be nice to hear what you all have to say. In the past five weeks I've read: "Star Trek: The Lost era: 2328-2346: The Art of the Impossible",
"Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Lost Era: The Buried Age", and "Star Trek: Corps of Engineers: Foundations"(almost done). Any of which would be cool to talk about
