Love the Carnegie. Though large, it retains the lines of the Constitution class. Raised nacelle, secondary hull down low--saucer to split the difference and balance things out...

I know I said I was done with this one, but tinkering with nacelles got me looking at a refit/retcon.

I think it was Aridas that came up with the advanced circumferential engine (ACE) nacelle design we saw. His were much wider and rather flat. Ironically, he thought of having a return to the red-nosed nacelle--with the nacelle being between the saucer and secondary hull--long before the TNG galaxy class.

Now the galaxy class you are thinking about was the smller Magellenic Cloud class ship in the novelization of STIII. Wasn't it slimmer than a connie--and unarmed?

IIRC, the book never really mentioned anything other than the class, name and mission. No description.

So my design is as good as any, IMO...and it's not all that much bigger than a Connie.

Ok, this didn't take as long as I thought it would. I inadvertantly poached a part by miscrediting it to Vance. The "extended" hull I used for several classes actually belonged to someone else.
