Re: So What Are you Reading?: Generations

Δ I really doubt its the last Titan book, but if it was it would be easy enough to pick up the threads in another Typhoon Pact bannered novel.

One of the novels in The Fall, the 5-book miniseries starting soon, is a Titan novel. (All 5 books are under the banner title "The Fall" because miniseries sell better, basically, but if it's anything like the first round of Typhon Pact novels, it will still be a Titan novel through and through, regardless of what's on the cover.)

Re: So What Are you Reading?: Generations

I blew through Greater Than the Sum over the last day and half. I really enjoyed it, despite it being in the unenviable position of being the third Borg story in four TNG novels. It works really well as a prologue to Destiny as we'll. The new additions to the cast were really interesting and the plot in general held my interest.

I started Destiny: Gods Above last night, with the intention of just reading the Prologue, but ended up going about 50 pages. It's so good and really nothing has happened yet!

Halfway through the Eternal Tide. It's my favorite Voyager relaunch book so far.

Finally reading the only DS9 Relaunch book I skipped, the Gateways entry. It makes me nostagic for the early days of the Lit-verse.

Re: So What Are you Reading?: Generations

I've read the 3 volumes of the IDW 'reboots' of the classic TOS episodes (with a few new adventures) starring the crew of Abrams' Trek. I thought they were pretty cool, and gave some clever changes to the resolutions. For example, 'Operation: Annihilate!' has certain characters 'live' rather than 'dying' and minor characters from certain episodes (Boma, Zhara Jamal) show up in multiple adventures. I think if STID was clever in the way it handled it's 're-imagining' I would be more forgiving of said film; regardless, I did enjoy the 3 volumes. On the other hand: I also picked up the 'classic' DC compilation, 'Who Killed Captain Kirk' which kinda came off as 'slow' and 'inconsistent' in its story and pacing, and the art work came off a bit too 'busy.'

I am also reading (still) the Deep Space Nine book 'The 34th Rule.'

Re: So What Are you Reading?: Generations

The Last Four Things by Paul Hoffman. I've had it a while and now I've started it I remember how much I liked the first part of the trilogy 'The Left Hand Of God'.

It's an alternate history, but I just wish I could work out where and when it is set...

Re: So What Are you Reading?: Generations

I am reading an old Bantam Books TOS novel called Spock, Messiah! Found it at a used book store. The Bantam Books novels are kind of fun because of how far off they can be with characterization. Its like fresh TOS. I can see how some wouldn't appreciate the deviations of characters or some of the bizarre story lines (Culbreath and Marshak) They are generally quick reads.

Finished Sarek last night. It was alright, slow start. Next Trek book will see me finally getting on with my Peter David marathon with The Captain's Daughter. But first I'm finishing off Shadowrun short stories collection Spells and Chrome.

Finished Book One of Destiny, now to Destiny: Mere Mortals. I'm about 150 pages into Destiny #2 and it's quite gripping!
