Thanks.

This one is scaled similarly to the ST:TMP ship, so a lot of the detail is larger than on the JJPrise. Actually, other than scale your ship and mine have a lot in common - both incorporate aspects of the TMP ship and the JJPrise, as well as pennants reminiscent of the TOS version.

I like the engines Church designed, especially details like the "fins" that are call-backs to the original series ship. Personally, I didn't want to see a faithful rendering of the 1966 version of the Enterprise in the reboot.

Sounds like JJ's crew took one step forward, two steps back.

Plus don't forget the rest of the interiors. Engineering was probably designed by Chief of Starfleet Design Corps, Captain Sanford.

Not a huge fan of the JJPrise myself, though I don't have the extreme hatred of it I've seen in others. Honestly, make the secondary hull a little larger, like in bulletheads' version, and move the neck further forward on the secondary hull and I'd be happy.

One thing I really do like about it is the way the back of the neck blends into the top of the secondary hull. It looks really good like that to me and it's an aspect that makes sense to me as it adds an organic look and seems like it would make the whole neck structure more solid.

I don't understand why anyone would hate it. It's my favorite Enterprise. The only thing I would change would be to move the front of the engineering hull back a bit.

Re: The Improving the JJprise thread

MNIL - One of the nicest JJPrise/TMP ships I've seen . The neck works really well as do the pylons. The nacelles are still a little too much like the originals for my liking. I'm also trying to figure out if you could add 5% of the length to the back of the secondary hull to make it look a little sleeker.

But that is a minor point - it mixes the nicely balanced proportions of the TMP design with the some of the styles of the JJPrise.

Cheers,
S.O.

Beautiful work on your variation Dennis, it's work like yours that has made the original JJprise grow on the last two years.

I've thought about re-downloading Blender and working on a design of my own, my just try that now.

It was on the big screen, in Airplane 2.

About 3:30 in this clip

Why did you arrive at the conclusion the New-Prise was 1,200 meters. I remember a drawing a guy did with a human for scale and it matched 762 pretty good...

I'd move the lower hull as you say, and fatten that hull up a bit. I don't think Church's could be my favorite Enterprise, but it's in my top three.

And yeah, the TOS ship had its moment in Airplane 2. Let it lie.

A 2 second cameo in a bad comedy isn't quite what I had in mind.

I got to see her on the big screen a few years ago when they released the Remastered Menagerie in the theater for a week. Was glorious.

I'll bet it was. I'm jealous.

Out of curiosity... ...what do you make of the complaints that the old E simply wouldn't look good on a big screen?

Re: The Improving the JJprise thread

i think its baseless fact unless they tried it with a test audience and it failed.
