Interesting. Is he the first person, apart from Leonard Nimoy obviously, to appear in a prime-timeline story and nu-Trek?
Yep.
Nope. Morgan Sheppard had a couple of guest shots on TNG and Voyager and was head of the Vulcan Science bunch in the 09 movie.

No, because W. Morgan Sheppard has done it with previous on-screen roles on TNG and Voyager TV episodes and TOS-based movies as well as Trek 2009.

Be funny if Chris Pine landed the role of Robocop in that remake, as has been rumoured.

Edit - and thank you all for clarifying the 'first actor' query.

Well, his "prime-timeline" story actually happens in both timelines anyway, since Enterprise is the shared history of both.

I really hope Khan is NOT in the sequel.

What's the fucking point of rebooting the film series if you're just gonna go back and rehash the same characters each time?

I love me some Weller. Rumor has it that he'll be playing Dr. Banzai.
This is one of the few times that I wish a joke post were really true. Hey, Yoyodyne helped build the Enterprise-D, so why not?

Anyway, I'm greatly looking forward to more Weller-related news now.

Like Kirk and Spock? Or Batman, The Joker, Superman, Zod...

Kirk and Spock were necessary to the whole point of rebooting the films.

Point taken though, re: the Joker and Zod.

Like any other franchise it has its iconic characters and there no real reason not to include them.

I'd say look for an appearance of the oscillation overthruster, except for the fact that that gag's been done a few times already. I wouldn't rule out some sort of wink to Banzai/Yoyodyne, etc., though
