I'm reading through the Crucible series right now which I am very much enjoying. I'm wondering if I should start with the Mirror Universe series or Start off with the Romulan War and work my way up through the ENT books. What are your opinions?
IMO the ENT relaunch/Romulan war sucks. And I really enjoyed the show and the novels set during the series ("Daedalus" and "Daedalus' Children" are my favourites) I haven't read the recent MU novels.
Actually I find reading works best if you go left to right, top to bottom, front to back. Unless you're reading an Asian language.
Or... you could follow DRG3's other ST books. His Quark novel and his "Lost Era" novel are very popular. The first is a collaboration with DS9's Armin Shimerman: The 34th Rule. "The Lost Era" novel is Serpents Among the Ruins. Then there's a huge "Mission Gamma" novel, Twilight (almost killed me, but it was worth it - its publication coincided with loss of a four-hour daily commute and reading it in grabs of only 20 mins at a time just couldn't do it justice), and "Worlds of DS9"'s "Olympus Descending". All highly recommended.
While I enjoyed the two books leading up to the Romulan War, I'd have to recommend the Mirror Universe books. The Sorrows of Empire (both versions) is a truly amazing piece of literature.
Actually, Christopher's upcoming novel, Only Superhuman, has lots of really funny lines and bits. (End of shameless plug.)
