Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
Gotta say the back end of this this is starting to come together. Looked at a couple pictures of utility trucks and decided to add a place to hold tools and such on the sides.
I’m seriously thinking about making those floor panels out of wood but I don’t think that would work too well in space.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
I’ve got a few more bits added to the bed of this vehicle. A few more details to the doors and a bit of stuff to the inside. I’ve added a few more hand holds and I think all those will divits will work as a reaction control system. I’ve also started on an idea for a locking mechanism to add more beds it needed.
One more thing I just finished playing Call Of Duty:Ghosts last night. Got it on tuesday and finished on thursday. Game was ok but too short.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

You might send that off to GM seriously.

I have been reading a lot about driverless cars and trucks--but tractorless trailers will be where it is at. Imagine a tralier with roll up doors front and back--the engine and reefer units are underslung in easily swappable pods--with avionics bay type acess doors. New electronics can be installed from multiple providers--but the linkages/steering bogies remain uniform--as are the four corner areas where scanners attach.

So no matter what engine improvements are had--the body design remains the same.

Market that to Blue Bird.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
Ok I added some stuff to the lower side of the bed.

The part back here might turn out to be a light of some kind.

And over here at the front of the bed I’ve added what will be the port used to refuel the power cells and check diagnostics and whatever other tech stuff might need to be done.

A close up. I still nedd to detail the crap out of it.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
I’ve added covers for the plugs.

I’ve also astarted to block in shapes for the manipulator arm. I thought with it snowing now I might add a snow plow to this thing as well. You can also see the headlights on the front.

This is what I’m thinking for the door. Took me forever to figure out how to get the pivot point right.

And just for fun a little test animation of the doors opening and closing. It goes a little wonky at the end but that’s You Tube’s fault.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
I found a great video that showed how to UV Unwrap in pretty good detail so now I understand it a little bit better. I thought I’d try it out on one of the doors. It’s temp for now so I will probably redo them. Instead of taking weeks to do I can now do it in a few hours.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

I think that this looks like a work bee, but with a pick-up bed attached to the back.

Hard to blame you for making it look like a Federation work bee, considering that there is just something about Probert's little design that seems to make sense.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
Did some minor work on this thing. I made the hand rails on the side smaller. Added windows to the cab and some reaction control thrusters.

This what some other pallets might be like for moving liquids around.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
I’m starting to get an idea for the inside of this thing. The chair will be remade.

I thought I’d go with carbon fiber for the bed of this thing. I’ve also started on the locking mechanism.

I finished up the details of the access box thing and mocked up how it gets plugged in. I also played a bit with optical flares.

Some minor details to the top of the cab.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
Here is a close up of the plug.

And Another shot of the plug with textures since I’ve started to unwrap the bed. This was mostly a proof of concept for me. It will be clean for now.

And this is an idea for a new Earth ship. It’s a mixture of aan old ship I never finished but plan on and the Earth ships from Stargate. There are normally at least two of these ship used to escort the president’s ship.
It’s currently called the Mjolnir class.

Oh yeah, one more thing. If you play GTA5 online don't shoot me. Thank you.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

The more that I look at this work bee, the more I think that this could also work in the ST timeline, as a Work Bee used by United Earth in that universe as well, albeit as one made by a different company, as I believe the capsule-like space-pod we saw in the first episode of ENT was a work bee. Perhaps this could be an ancestor of the Sphinx: Probert's TNG design for a work pod?

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
I’ve been wanting to do this for some time. This the example type 1 government housing. It’s about the size of my basement and it’s big enough for at least one person to live in. I may increase the size a bit to make it easier to fit the bathroom in.

Re: OT: The United Earth Universe.

UPDATE...
I decided to work on the UEG drydock and I’m focused on the command sphere for now.

I added more detail including large observation windows. I’ve also started on the placement for the smaller windows.

This is beautiful work.

I love that sphere. There can't ever be enough spheres in sci-fi.
