What I really want is more variety, in both format and subject matter.

The world is going in that direction, albeit slowly. (Too slowly for me, too!)

I hope so. There have been a couple of good signs lately.

Yeah like an actual space opera series! Which sounds like it could have a strong episodic (mission based) component. You may be in luck.

That clip for tonight's episode looks good. The plotline is starting to get traction.

^^ Yes, and I have a high opinion of RHW, so I am keeping all fingers crossed for that one.

Interesting ep...the whole bee thing creeped me out a bit...I am guessing his boss is the big bad...which we knew already but could there actually be something more...his unofficial sidekick was funny as always...I think his official police partner would be too if he was in the know. Good ep though.

So far I'm likin' it but it's still not up to the level of Special Unit 2! It's definately got potential though.

Of the three episodes aired so far this was far and away the best. The bee creatures and the swarm were creepy as heck (I hate insects!) and there's hints of a larger story arc/big bad looming. The guy playing Nick did a pretty good job here. He's a bit looser than he was in the pilot. The wolf guy just steals the damn show. He's funny.

I love the werewolf guy. He reminds me of the Geico cavemen.

I haven't seen this one yet. What Fairy Tale do the bees reference?

Re: Grimm (NBC) Season 1 Discussion *Spoilers!*

Hey, that was a good episode! I'm warming up more to Nick as the lead now, and his partner got in some good quips and didn't seem like so much of a waste of time. Also, Nick's fiance demonstrated a personality. This is the kind of writing the show needs more of.

Nana Visitor as Queen Bee was genius casting. I'm very happy to see that the episodes won't be limited solely to fairy tales. I'd like to see the writers just invent their own mythical characters, some of which are good and others evil and yet others just trying to stay out of trouble.

Very much liked Nick being forced to choose between his roles as cop and as Grimm. He's in a serious bind, since there's no way he could explain why he didn't shoot Melissa under those circumstances without being carted off to the looney bin.

What Fairy Tale do the bees reference?
None that I know of, which is a good thing.

"Melissa" means "honeybee" and the name is derived from a legend where a nymph named Melissa took care of the infant Zeus by feeding him honey. Which raises the slight possibility that the story was derived from Greek mythology, but the story here really doesn't relate to the myth much at all.

Ratings news: Grimm continues to tic downwards.

Grimm was down three tenths to a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating.
But the combo of general failure for NBC's fall season plus lowered expectations for Fridays (even mighty CBS is doing only a tad better than Grimm) means that it's not time to panic yet.

It would be cool if they cast Brandon Routh as some long lost brother/cousin for an episode.

Watching the bee episode from dvr. I'm liking the show. The lead is relaxing into the role. His partner is great and the unofficial partner is perfect--underplayed and scene-stealing doing it. And I like that they're keeping the Asian uniform cop. A nice recurring role like it should be--there's not an unlimited number of uniform cops.
