Jaime Murray: Babe of the Week #17 (April 2013)

Jaime Murray
("Defiance," "Warehouse 13," "Dexter")
Thumbs up= Thumbs down= Thumbs sideways=

Jaime Murray was born in London, England. Her father is English actor Billy Murray. She was named after Lindsay Wagner's character Jaime Sommers in "The Bionic Woman." Murray briefly studied philosophy and psychology at the London School of Economics, but dropped out to train at the Drama Centre London. Her first taste of stardom was miming the lyrics in the 1996 original video of Stretch & Vern's dance track "I'm Alive." Some of her early television appearances included minor guest roles in BBC One's "Casualty," "The Bill," "Love Soup" and "ShakespeaRe-Told: The Taming of the Shrew."
"Defiance": In the year 2046, it’s a new Earth -- with new rules. Over thirty years after various alien races arrived on Earth, the landscape is completely altered, terraformed nearly beyond recognition. To the town of Defiance, on what used to be St. Louis, comes the mysterious Nolan (Grant Bowler) and his charge, Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas). As they settle into town -- overseen by the mayor, Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz) and filled with residents like the powerful Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene), enterprising lounge owner Kenya (Mia Kirshner) and the ambitious, alien Tarrs (Tony Curran and Jaime Murray) -- events begin to unfold that threaten the fragile peace this border town has fought for.

As the events of Defiance unfold weekly on your TV screen, you can see how the residents’ struggles impact the game of Defiance, a high-octane, multi-platform experience from Trion Worlds! For the first time in history, a TV show and a game will exist concurrently in a shared universe, influencing and impacting the other!

Re: Jaime Murray: Babe of the Week #17 (April 2013)

One of the sexiest most gorgeous actresses around.

I first saw her around 2004 on Hustle (a fun and well written show by the way) and subsequently on the short lived series Valentine where she played a modern day Greek goddess and then on Dexter. Loved her on Dexter. She was a good counterpart to his serial killer nature, a fun and exciting friend with benefits, and she had just the right amount of crazy. …until it became too much. Haven't seen Warehouse 13 yet, but I hear that she plays H.G. Wells and almost got her own spinoff.

I was surprised to find out that she was Bill Murray's daughter. …then I found it it was actually Billy Murray, a different person.

I also saw the pilot episode of Defiance and I was about an hour in before I realized which character she was.

Quite the transformation. A different look and a different accent. She really gets to show off her talent here. I wasn't impressed with the show, but I was impressed with what she managed to pull off.

She wanted to try roles in the U.S. after her success with Hustle and I think she's done well for herself so far.

I'm not sure how true it is but I heard Robert Vaughn was responsible for getting her through the front door (so to speak) in Hollywood.

^ I heard that he was impressed when he saw her in a Wonder Woman costume when they were doing Hustle and lobbied for her to get the part. Or something like that. I found these...

Vaughn famously gave her a hand on the way to Hollywood, helping to her to win an audition for the part of Wonder Woman after seeing her in the costume during an episode of the show.

Did you really audition to play Wonder Woman?
Yes, I did, but the project fell through when the writers’ strike hit. I’d love to have done it. It’s Wonder Woman!

All I know her from is Dexter and she was a great foil there and was great all around.

She was a regular on Warehouse 13? That show is a few back on my list but I aim to get to it.
So, she's on Defiance? What's the early word on that show? Good, Great? I don't have cable so I've not seen it yet.

THUMBS UP

She's not a regular on WH13, more of a popular recurring character who doesn't show up until the second season. There was talk of spinning her character off into her own series (with an ep of WH13 seeming to serve as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off), but, alas, nothing seems to have come of it.

Too bad could've been fun.

Haven't had time to catch DEFIANCE yet.
