Blu-Ray announcement 28th September?

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#091211

First, we've got some heavy-duty Rumor Mill information about CBS' Star Trek: The Next Generation - Remastered Blu-ray sampler disc. Industry sources now tell us that the disc may be announced on 9/28, which is the 24th anniversary of the show's first broadcast back in 1987. We're also told that anticipated the U.S. release date will likely be in early December, on or around 12/6.
Here's hoping.

Hasn't this been mentioned in the official TNG-R thread already?

Yep, but it was way too premature. It's now onto page 6, and it's just as much speculation as the old rumor thread. Of course, this thread probably could have gone in the rumor thread too.

Hardly. Yup lot's of speculation, but also a good news source and Levar Burton himself who went and looked at the footage. Even if it's not "official" its a better than 50-50 bet there will at least be a sampler disc. let's check back in Sept 28th.

Does "Sampler disc" mean "Free disc"?

"Sampler" refers to a non-chronological selection of episodes from the show to be used as a demo for the conversion to HD. It is most definitely not free.

You mean it won't be offered as a freebie with a Sunday newspaper supplementary magazine? Damn!
