Favourite Novel, Series

Having read Trek novels for the last nearly 30 years, which series, individual book, or trilogy made you eager for more novels

Easily the Destiny Trilogy. It changed a lot. It felt like the Trek universe was finally progressing at a more suitable rapid pace ... at least for me.

A close second is the Articles of the Federation. It made me want to read more novels not centered around Star Fleet. I love novels like these because it expands on what was already created. I would love to learn more about the other federation members

Re: Favourite Novel, Series

There are three novels that I would put head and shoulders above anything else I've read when it comes to Star Trek.

Mission Gamma: Twilight by David R. George III
Destiny: Mere Mortals by David Mack
Fire Ship by Diane Carey

Are three differ from the Star Trek norm, but manage to tell exciting stories and all have some of the most incredible worldbuilding you'll find in any novel, Star Trek or not.

As fantastic as the Destiny trilogy was, I've gone to the DS9 Millenium trilogy again and again.

The first three DS9 relaunch novels (Avatar, parts 1 and 2, plus te Section 31 novel) were a great start to the series.

And the TNG/DS9 books set during the Dominion War are fantastic.

The Ds9 milleniumn books are well written. I didn't like the Destiny books I got tired of the endless Tng borg books durirng the last few years I liked the TNg story collection for it's twenty fifth anniversary alot better. I prefer Imzadi and reunion. i also like the Enterprise relaunch books.I like the Tos books and Ds9 series as well. Also the Mirror universe and Alternate reality story collections.I also like Mere Anarchy

I'd say my favorite series are Vanguard and the Mirror Universe.

Keep in mind that I've only just finished reading through the DS9 relaunch and haven't quite started anything beyond. I'm sure there'll be other "favorites" coming soon and I can't wait to make it to Destiny after all I've heard over the past year or so.

  • the Crucible trilogy
  • all of Vanguard
  • the Eugenics Wars series
  • Peter David's early novels Strike Zone, A Rock and a Hard Place, Imzadi and Q-Squared
  • Serpents Among the Ruins and The Art of the Impossible from The Lost Era
If this list seems somewhat lacking, bear in mind that I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm only now getting into the various relaunches. (Too bad I started with the Enterprise relaunch, which I didn't find captivating at all.)

My favorite piece of treklit is Kirsten Beyer's Voyager: Full Circle. I'd also say that the Voyager relaunch is my favorite series as Pocket no longer seems to publish the IKS Gorkon books

As a series, either DS9 relauch or Vanguard.

Individual novels.... A lot of people seem to mention older novels which I never read or haven't read, but I really loved Greater Then The Sum and Rough Beasts Of Empire.
