I assume when you get the replacement discs they'll also ship a SASE for returning the defective discs. It'd be (sort of) cool if they let you keep them, but...
I'm kinda surprised they didn't want us to send the defective ones back first.

Not sure what good it would be keeping the bad ones.
I think it's just good customer service to avoid burdening the customer with sending back the defective discs. I think they must be well aware of how bad this looks...the less hassle for the customer the better. I'm sure they don't need any more defective discs either. lol

Maybe they're hoping that people will repurpose them and avoid saddling CBS with recycling the disks.
I imagine if it wasn't as widespread a problem (ie: 100% of the sets apparently), they might have made the request for return.

I've never had defective discs, so don't know what the norm is.

Only other time I've had defective discs was with the Back to the Future DVD set framing issue but I never took part in the replacement program. This I'll certainly take part of since it is a pretty big problem.

On the sets, I sort of wish there were the Okuda Commentaries like the TOS sets had. I wonder why they didn't do that since the Okudas were obviously very involved with this project.

BTW- Where is the serial number on the disc? I can't find it anywhere.

I can barely make out the SL but cannot read the numbers. How in the world is a guy with eye over 50 supposed to see that small invisible print?

Well, that's just it, they are 'very' involved in the project...to the point of not having any time to dedicate to such commentaries. This is actually a much larger project to undertake than TOS:R.

Yeah, I finally found them. Took a magnifying glass and a flashlight to be able to make readable enough to write them down.

You need Geordi vision to read those frakking numbers.

And even with what I was using I wasn't entirely sure I could make them all out. It was pretty damn hard to read them.

This is going to be so mean, but I can't resist the joke: If you can't read that, are you sure a HD release was a worthwhile investment?

Yeah, dark 2-point font on a reflective surface, everyone should easily be able to read that!

Re: The OFFICIAL STNG-R general discussion thread!

A fun experiment. I play the Blu Ray on my home theater while at the same time stream the show from Netflix on my tablet. It can get out of sync at the commercial breaks, which may be timed differently between the two versions, but aside from that it looks and sounds as if the tablet is playing a degraded version of the same signal as the home theater.
