The ironic thing is that right now, beam arrays and dual beam banks are the weapons that deals the most damage, not Dual Heavy Cannons.

Its gotten to the point that both my science officer's Recluse and engineer's Galor is not only out-damaging my tactical officer's Fleet Armitage, they also out-tank, out-heal and out-science my tac's Fleet Armitage. Especially my Recluse, everyone wants it in their STF runs because this one ship alone is capable of debuffing all nearby enemy ships with 5xAP:Beta III and 1xAP:Beta II. Typically, everyone sees a +3-4k dps boost just by having my Recluse in the team.

And then the parsers only take into account actually dealt damage.
They don't measure the raw output I think which can be diminished significantly by resists and defenses.
Actually, the latest ACT plugins for STO keep track of both base damage and actual damage. So they also give two dps figures, theoretical dps and actual dps.

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)

Heyyy,

I bought 2 Borg Bridge Officers but for some reason I don't see them when I try to add them to my crew?

My character is Lieutenant Level 5 and it let me buy them...so I'm not sure why they don't know show.

I bought 3 blank officer spots that can be filled and was planning to fill them with the Borg officers.

Anyone have an idea as to why?
It said the transactions were successful.

Have you checked your inventory? You might have to commission them from there.

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)

Thanks, I'll try it.
EDIT: It worked! I didn't realize purchased officers go right to your inventory. Thank you!

I was wondering what is the benefit of buying shuttles/runabouts?

I saw it had the Delta Flyer and being a VOY fan I was gonna buy it, but wasn't sure what the benefit would be. Just wondering.

I'll probably get it anyway just because it's the Delta Flyer haha.

There are 2 story missions and 2 group event missions for shuttles so far.
You get a free basic shuttle but every other small craft is better.

The Delta Flyer is my favorite for mission play. You can complete the mission with the basic shuttle, but not as easily.

Google this shuttle chart from Spidermitch:

Your Let's Play videos inspired me to get into Star Trek Online. I've only been playing for a couple weeks but I am addicted to it. I'm already at Rear Admiral level 49 with my Fed character "Tulak", a Vulcan tactical officer. I have a sovereign class ship, the USS Star Quest, equipped with Reman covariant shields, 2 forward beam arrays, 2 forward photon torpedoes, 2 rear beam arrays and 2 rear transphasic torpedoes. I also have a bunch of consoles that increase damage resistance and weapons. I absolutely adore my ship! It is really tough and delivers quite a punch. I like cruisers but can't wait to try escorts next. Thanks for getting me hooked on STO!

How can there be a season nine before a season eight?! Or is the "big release at the end of the year" not a proper season?

Eh, whatever. As long as they have new ships, and missions on occasion, I'll be happy.

They can't decide if LoR counts as season eight or not.
