They fill the bank slots that we don't have enough of quite well, though...

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
You won't scan many anomalies in endgame, so the only Data Samples you'll get are from DOFF assignments, easily manageable to sell them as you get them. Then again, some Data Samples are worth so little... |

But it shows one thing: the market fluctuates a lot in this game; not only for data samples but they're a good example. |

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
/rant on Before the fight began, the group leader asked "I'll handle right, who will handle left?". Someone volunteered to handle left probes. Now we all presumed he meant he'll handle the right probes. Never in a million years did I imagine he actually meant he's taking down right transformers by himself and not touching the right probes. At any rate, I was still oblivious to this as I was busy taking down left transformers with everyone else. Every time he asked who's handling right probes, I spun around and saw a ship on the far right side and assumed that ship was handling the probes so I said nothing. I never realized it was his ship and he does not want to clear the probes. I only took notice when the group leader yelled, "SOMEONE HELP ME WITH RIGHT PROBES". I spun around and this time I saw a Borg cube on the far right side with explosions so I assumed he accidentally spawned the cube and couldn't handle the probes. So I said "omw" and went over to clear the probes for him. And as a helpful gesture I destroyed the offensive cube before going back to clearing transformers on the left side. Next thing I know, group leader's screaming at me, saying how its my responsibility to clear right probes and not his just because because I said "omw". Naturally, I defended my actions as I never volunteered to handle right probes. And this guy has the gall to retort that he's had enough of my excuses and tells the EliteSTF channel to put me on ignore! On top of that, no one in the group had good dps. They just kept blowing up when Donatra attacked them. Several times, I was the only ship left attacking Donatra's ship. It took 10 minutes to bring Donatra's ship down and I was pretty amazed my Prometheus escort only blew up twice. /rant off

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
It's a monumental waste to have someone handle only probes. That said, not very nice (or efficient) to leave someone alone on the right side. A 3/2 split would've been better. Surviving Donatra is mostly a matter of: - Timing Evasive Maneuvers to avoid the Thalaron burst. Very easy. - Timing Brace for Impact to deal with her Torpedo Spread. First one is easy when you're used to it, but after that it involves some guesswork. - A bit of luck if on an Escort. A Torp Spread can do quite a bit of damage, even with BFI and then she can wear you down with regular attacks while your heals are on cooldown, so you're basically hoping she cloaks. I'm in a terrible ISE group atm. Not knowing the 10% thing, I'm fine with. Not being willing to apply it, I'm fine with. Rainbows, I'm fine with. Unrepaired injuries... somewhat annoying, but no huge deal. But this group applied the 10% thing relatively well and then just targetted the normal Spheres that pop near the Transformer, completely missing the point of the 10% rule. When questionned about why they did that, one of them just insults me in very broken english. That infuriates me. Especially the broken english part, because it just tells you the individual doesn't have the cognitive capacity to understand the irony of insulting other people's intelligence in broken english. Then again, when I saw a Ship spelled in alternate caps (the "USS DeVaStAToR"), I should've expected such behaviour. |

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
I would suggest doing something else in the game until you find a good group to run the STFs. You could volunteer to lead some noobs on the lower missions. I see a lot of players that really have no clue what to do. I've been running the Starbase 24 instance as I've been updating weapons and skills and it amazes me that despite having cockeyed setups at times, that I usually walk away with the choice rewards. So there is obviously a lot of opportunities to provide guidance to the newer players. If gaming is causing you bad stress, you need to re-evaluate the situation. Find a way to make it fun. .

No, I am mostly angry with myself for choosing to group up with a potential troublemaker I.

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
There are special DOFF assignments that you can get from your Science officer on your ship (visit your bridge and go to the science lab). You can turn in data samples for 250 dilithium and particle traces for 500 dilithium. Each of these mission require about 20 of each type of sample. Question about the Thunderchild and Armitage - can you use the both the Phaser and Photon Torpedo Point Defense System on the same ship?
