You can actaully Transwarp to it (using the button in the mission window or the Journal window) for zero (0) EC from any Sol system Ground map (IE ESD or SFA)

As with the previous lock boxes, I am not really personally interested of spending any money on the keys, while I do admit that there is one or two nice items there.
I kind of wish that we would rather get some more stuff to the C-store instead, like some Klingon costume packs..and maybe a KDF bundle, since Fed side already have three(would be quite easy to invent content to such, IMHO).

I have been spending bit more time on the Klingon side of the game this week, creating a new toon and so on.
I also too advantage of the recent sale and finally got the Excelsior-class ship that I have been thinking of getting for a some time. I just need to refit her with some consoles now.
Definitely one of the best looking ships in the game

My Vulcan science officer got invited to Risa for some drinks by another player. She thanked everyone for nice shooting after after a fleet event..and I was only one who replied to that. What followed was some drinks and pleasant conversation

Some of the other players have expressed a good point, that they took away a lot of currencies, and now they added a new one that you have to buy with a terrible crystal drop rate.

What does my fifteen bucks a month go to? Other than que jumping (which I used twice) and the foundry (which I never use), If I use that money on getting cpoints, I get triple the amount. So I will be cancelling my sub this month.

That's pretty much the common math, if you aren't a LTS already. So little difference between Gold and Silver and even less if you have been Gold in the past, as you don't lose the benefits of bigger bank, etc when you downgrade.

Paying $15 a month extra for almost no gain. They give out C-Points, but inflated (almost) all the prices to compensate for it. And if you just paid for the items outright instead of doing the sub first, you'd have cash in your pocket, and could pick WHEN to spend it, instead of blowing c-points just because they're there and you paid already...

As for the currencies: I don't understand their logic. They took away Emblems and Marks of Vallor because they said we had too many currencies, and it was confusing. Screwed a lot of people on the conversion when they reduced them. Then added EDC/salvage for the STFs, dilithium, these crystalsm, and it's only increased the issue. Meanwhile, latinum, a legit Trek currency, sits around doing bubkis...

Indeed. They could at least make it so people could trade-in the now various flavoured boxes for latinum, instead of selling them on the exchange for 1 EC per pack of 10, or just destroying them.

I think that's the most frustrating part. Latinum is the best in-game currency, but they choose to make it useless and go with a dozen others. Latinum as the primary currency in Star Trek only makes sense.

DC Universe just made lockboxes free to unlock for LTS. Hopefully Cryptic will learn from this.

At the VERY least, would be nice if it was guaranteed that the items in the lock boxes were at least worth the CP it costs to open them. If the math is a 0.25% chance at a ultra-rare ship, and a 95% chance to get something both common and crappier than the gear you already have, no incentive to buy these things. Keys are about 10x as much as they should cost, especially given the crap in most of them. They got a LITTLE smarter by putting guaranteed crystals in them, but then blew it by making the trade-in rate for those so high that it works out to costing a couple hundred dollars for a shuttle if you add up the costs without paying attention...

For LTS, you should either get a reusable master key, or at least a few keys a month tossed in with the CP award. Guess you could buy them outright, but that feels too much like actually just gambling away your monthly fee.

Maybe something like a choice. You could choose between: 400 CP, plus 4 lock box keys per month, or 700 CP a month, no free keys. LTS and Gold members should certainly get an advantage there, I think. As a Silver, I have no problems paying a couple of dollars to get a couple of master keys.

Drop rate for Mark XII Borg Tech has been slightly increased for Elite difficulty.

A new Death / Re-spawn timer has been added to all ground and space STFs on both difficulty settings (Normal / Elite) - More information on how this works below.

KA Ground (Normal / Elite) -

Players must defeat the Borg in the upper level of the facility before they can proceed into the lower portion of the base. This means players can no longer run past and or totally ignore the Borg in the upper levels of the base.

The optional objective timer will now start as soon as players leave the first room (the one you spawn into).

New Re-spawn Mechanic -

Currently in the game when a player is defeated the "Re-Spawn" button appears after 15 seconds. This happens every 15 seconds no matter how many time a player dies on any given map / mission.

After the next patch the re-spawn mechanic on STFs (and only on STFs at the moment) will work a little differently.

Every time a player dies and re-spawns on a STF the time for the "Re-Spawn" button to appear will get a little longer. This timer starts at 15 seconds and increments an additional 15 seconds each time a player dies and uses the button to re-spawn. The re-spawn timer will keep going up until the cap is reached. The cap is 120 seconds (2 full min).

On ground STFs dead players can still be revived by other team members (assuming they are still alive of course) and bypass the new timer.

There is also an attrition timer that will reset the built up extra re-spawn time on the player if the player goes 5 min without a defeat / re-spawn.

Let me give you an example...

I die the first time - 15 sec before I can re-spawn
I die again (in less than 5 min from the last death) - 30 sec before I can re-spawn
I die again (in less than 5 min from the last death) - 45 sec before I can re-spawn

I think you see where this is going... all the way up to 120 seconds.

However if at any point the time between deaths exceeds 5 min, the reset timer is set back down to the default 15 seconds, and the stacking is reset.

Overall, the respawn timer change looks like it is a good change. Yes it ups the difficulty of STFs and pug groups are going to suffer. Escorts with strong weapons and flimsy shields/hulls will be a thing of the past. Maybe people will start valuing healing/repairing abilities instead of demanding only tactical escorts with lots of dps for CSE.

Maybe, just maybe, my science officer can go back to the Recon Science Vessel instead of being forced to command a Prometheus.
