Depends on if he's taking on ALL the writing duties or if Finch is still going to be plotting the book.

I agree..if he's completely taking over I'll check it out, if Finch is co-writing or plotting then I'm still out. I love the guy's art, but he simply can't write.

So, at the urging of a fellow comic fan that I met recently, I gave Red Hood and the Outlaws another chance. I'm actually surprised. This book gets a whole lot better after the trainwreck of a first issue. This team actually has good chemistry. There's some pretty funny banter between them during battle and the story is cool enough to keep me reading. No, they still haven't explain why Kori doesn't remember anything, but the writer seems to have taken some of the criticism to heart, and she's not just being used as an emotionless sex prop. She seems to be acting a little more like the Starfire I remember. Oh, and Killer Croc as Roy's "sponsor" is just a hilarious concept.

I'm still lovin' Green Lantern. Of course it's not as good as the Sinestro Corps / Blackest Night days, but it's still interesting. GLC used to be my favorite title in the previous incarnation with Tomasi writing and Gleason drawing, so far this title is just meh.

New Guardians... meh.

Red Lanterns is a total waste of time and I'm all about the Rainbow Corps. Total waste of a book.

The main Green Lantern title has had a pretty strong start. Sinestro works as a good counterbalance to Hal's idiocy and bravado. I'll be frank that I've never really liked Hal all that much, so I'm really surprised that this one is the best of the lot so far.
Idiocy. You are not the first here or about the net I've heard use that word to descibe Hal Jordan 2.0.
It's just further proof of the reprogramming they did post resurrection in an attempt to make him more interesting. The irony of course is that any idiocy assigned to Kyle Rayner in his early years was unforgivable but Hal gets a pass by most. The double standard is quite laughable.

I haven't seen much bravado from Hal 2.0 so far...just idiocy. I have no clue why Johns has decided to write Hal like this it isn't different, it's just stupid....I liked him better in the DCU.

Johns is trying to channel the Ryan Reynolds idiot Hal Jordan from the movie.

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

See...I disagree with that. Ryan Renyolds was not that much of an idiot. He was young and brash which is what Hal was in Secret Origin (which the later drafts of the script were re-written to reflect) and in his early years. To some extent we have got that Hal in "Justice League" but it seems from the two issues of "Green Lantern" that I've read so far (I don't plan on reading more) that Johns has had trouble maturing Hal five years. I don't see movie Hal in either New 52 version of Hal I've seen so far at all.

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

Of course, one could argue that when the previous title started, everyone was upset that Geoff Johns was pushing Hal as the ultimate, do-no-wrong, HERO (capitals intended). Now everyone's upset that he's portraying Hal as brash, impulsive, and a bit of a screw-up. In other words, it's the internet being the internet.

I have been enjoying Green Lantern Corps, but yes, it's lost something since the days of Kyle and Guy. With his last Green Lantern: Emerald Knights issue and the most recent issue, Tomasi seems more intent on creating the most badass GL's possible because, I guess he feels Guy always needs to be surrounded by ass-kickers. Really, though, what worked best was not to stick Guy in the midst of similar characters, but to complement his attitude with Kyle's softer, more sensitive side. Guy with other "Guy-like" characters just makes him one of many. With Kyle he was more unique.

^You nailed it, I think. I'm thinking back to Kyle's temporary death during Blackest Night, where Guy is straining against all hope to keep Kyle's ring from leaving. When he fails, he's so full of rage that a red ring finds him. That was an incredibly powerful and memorable moment, that rang perfectly true because we had seen the relationship between these two men grow. They had become like brothers. The most Guy and John ever do is bicker. They're not friends. They're co-workers, is all. I can see people bicker in plenty of comics, but I thought Guy and Kyle's relationship was something pretty special. Oh well, I'm pining for the past, I guess.

My favorite Guy and Kyle bit was actually right before Blackest Night, when the Guardians ordered the Alpha Lanterns to execute all of the prisoners in the Sciencells. Guy and Kyle orchestrating a protest was great. Both believed what the Guardians were doing was wrong, but, perhaps for different reasons. The way they complemented each other was great.

I enjoyed their partnership and friendship myself back then, then I've always liked Kyle. He was sort of my Green Lantern growing up. Hal had just become Parallax (or I guess become possessed now lol) when I started heavily reading DC.

Seriously, if JL were $3 (or rather, effectively $2, because I am patient), I'd still be buying it, no joke. It's so much better.

But then again liking a ridiculously bad portrayal of a character you hate isn't the usual standard for describing something as "good."

I'm one who really enjoyed the GL books for the past few years but I've been disenfranchised by the reboot. I liked the dynamic they had going with just GL and GLC now it seems like they're spread thin with GL, GLC, New Guardians, and Red Lanterns.

I've been reading and enjoying the new Swamp Thing title I seem to be the only one who didn't hate the outcome of Brightest Day bringing back a character that was effectively in limbo for the past few years.

What Snyder and Lemire did with Swamp Thing/Animal Man really has been a brilliant stroke with the Rot as a unifying enemy. Since they and their friends pretty much run all the dark books now. I think we can see a great line wide crossover in the future with books like I Vampire, Frankenstein, JLD, Demon Knights maybe even Resurrection Man. And it'll fit naturally given the nature of the Rot.
