I really like the cover to DTI: Forgotten History, the others not so much.

However, that is definitely the Enterprise on the Storming Heaven cover. A little full circle maybe?
It's just as possible that Drexler is still working on it and hasn't swapped out the markings on the 3D model yet.
Oh... most likely. I'm willing to bet it'll end up being the Endeavor. That's why they say the covers aren't final. Although the full circle idea (the Enterprise in the first and last books of the series) has a certain coolness to it, I think I'd be pretty disappointed as I like how Vanguard has been able to stand on its own without any major TOS characters. Bringing the Enterprise in might end up pulling a "These are the Voyages" on Vanguard, and that would be a shame.

Despite not liking the cover, I am looking forward to Greg Cox's book as well.

The Simon and Schuster online catalogue has been updated with a bunch of new covers. They're all marked not final:

The Xondaii system—located in an area of non-aligned space near Federation and Romulan territory—is home to a unique stellar phenomenon: a spatial rift which opens every 2.7 Earth years, remains open for a period of approximately twenty-one Earth days, and allows access to a small planetoid that orbits in proximity to the system’s fourth planet. During this brief window, the people of Xondaii undertake a massive interplanetary operation: mineral ore is ferried from the mining operation while supplies, crew replacements, and so on are transported from the planet. Also, communications with the mining colony on the planetoid are possible only when the rift is open.

Science vessel U.S.S. Robert Ballard is severely damaged during its mission to the system, and the U.S.S. Enterprise is dispatched to investigate and render assistance. But Kirk, Spock, and Sulu also collect the data about the rift, and the evidence they’ve gathered regarding its artificial nature is compelling. How has this not been discovered by anyone from Xondaii, especially when considering the extensive mining operations that have been in place for decades? And what can prevent enemies of the Federation from exploiting this newfound power?

While I'm sure it's not final at all, I really like that impressionistic Rings of Time cover!

I am looking forward to all four books. How ever I don't like the cover to Mr.cox's even though I can't wait till they all come out. "storming heaven and forgotten history" best covers all away around on the four. damn shame that this will be the last of the vanguard sereis. will there be a spin off do you think?

The cover for The Rings of Time is fantastic! We need more impressionistic covers.

Love the other artwork too.

I like the Vanguard and DTI covers, the one for That Which Divides is a bit lackluster - I do like the color scheme and the font but the actual image is a bit simple IMO.

As for the Vanguard cover - I'm sorry we won't get to see any of the characters on the cover but at the same time I'm very pleased with the continuing theme of depicting the station on the cover. Of the four, it's the only one I'll be certain to get, still debating the DTI one as I loved the first book but I'm not much of a TOS fan...

I like the "Rings of Time" cover too. I don't think its a concept drawing, it just looks like they were going for a "60s sci-fi cover art" vibe. Back in the 60s and 70s, and a little bit in the 80s, a lot of sci-fi books had covers like these. Hand painted spaceships, often stylized with blurry watercolor edges, and very bulbous like the Enterprise is depicted here.

There was a famous painter named John Berkey who used to do that sort of thing; it was a very distinctive art style. (He may not be the only one who did them, I'm not sure.) I remember when he did the box art for the video game Star Control 3 and I felt like I was stepping back through time to my childhood just looking at it.

Anyhow, it reminds me of the covers of the sci-fi books I used to read as a kid. Fits with the title, too - I keep thinking "old school sci fi" when I read it - "The Rings of Time."

Re: Bunch of new covers, plus a blurb for That Which Divides

Dayton has posted about the cover of That Which divides on his blog:

It was brought to my attention earlier today that Simon & Schuster has updated their online catalogues with several new book covers, including a handful for upcoming Star Trek titles. Among the new additions is this VERY MUCH NOT FINAL cover for our forthcoming novel, That Which Divides.

The reason I know it's not the final cover is because I saw this image a couple of weeks ago, and was asked for my input. I provided feedback based on info from the actual manuscript, which the cover artist didn't have at the time he created this interim image. He was working from some pretty basic info provided to him by my editor, and given what he had to work with, this is actually a pretty slick image. My feedback was aimed more at tweaking the image to bring it in line with the events from the manuscript this is supposed to depict, and to "juice it up" some. I'm still waiting (and excited) to see what he brings with the next go-around.

I'm not too keen on the Rise Like Lions cover. I actually preferred the earlier cover with Martok and Dukat on it, although I guess Picard is to be a major character in the novel.

Just a shame they used a flipped image of him again so that his face looks all wonky.

So that is the final cover then. It's been up on the catalouge for a while now.
I like it, sure it's kinda simple, but it works. It even the keeps the broken glass motif that they used for the first three books.
