Unless that freak incident was hushed up. Does Starfleet really want everyone knowing that you can so easily create duplicates? Was it even possible to replicate it?

Edit_XYZ, why are you yet again hijacking a thread to re-litigate your opinions re: Destiny and the ongoing Federation-Borg conflict from "Q Who?" to Lost Souls? Didn't we start a thread specifically to hash your complaints there out?

I doubt Starfleet was able to hush that one up. All of a sudden there are 2 Rikers in the fleet. I bet everyone was talking about that one. I would also be shocked if unscrupulous individuals weren't trying to use transporters to obtain immortality or clone themselves.

Re: Before Dishonour....seriously?!

Why would everyone know there was suddenly 2 Rikers?

Clearly DS9 hadn't gotten the memo...

Veering off topic, I've been wanting a story to delve into these abilities the transporter has. It's an immortality machine, capable of duplicating, de-aging, pushing people out of phase, into other timelines.... these things are ignored/forgotten in canon, but there's an epic novel in there somewhere.

One calls himself Thomas. He has a lower rank. Most people would assume, or be told, that he's an identical twin who followed his brother into Starfleet.

Or, he could be explained that he was a technology accident, but that the actual method is classified.

In "Double Helix #4: Quarentine", nobody knew about the duplication. Thomas was royally sick of explaining it to everyone he met. So, not classified, but not something Starfleet advertised.

Sci, I have yet to read a post of yours from the 'Trek Literature' subforum that didn't make factual mistakes and didn't contain logical fallacies.

In the present case, do read this thread and see where the 'I, borg' moral/not moral discussion started.
Also, see how much of the conversation centered around 'destiny'.

Oh yeah? And how is this not a "war crime"?
From Wikipedia:

War crimes are serious violations of the laws applicable in armed conflict (also known as international humanitarian law) giving rise to individual criminal responsibility. Examples of such conduct include "murder, the ill-treatment or deportation of civilian residents of an occupied territory to slave labor camps", "the murder or ill-treatment of prisoners of war", the killing of prisoners, "the wanton destruction of cities, towns and villages, and any devastation not justified by military, or civilian necessity".
The very existence of the Borg is an ongoing war crime, so if anything, all the actions taken to stop them is an effort to stop that ongoing war crime.

Stopping the crimes the Borg are committing against their prisoners by killing their prisoners is paradoxical, no?

As one of the people who took part in that other thread I'm gonna have to side with Sci on this one. I honestly thought I was in the other thread last night, until I went to the other thread and realized I hadn't been there yet.

So the writers of "Tuvix" were compelled to have Janeway use this information because a tie-in novel said so?

JD, me not starting the discussion on the subject in this thread is not a matter of opinion.
It's an objective fact that won't change regardless of your - or Sci's - common position/common opinion regarding recent trek lit/etc.

Yeah, whether you started it or not is beside the point. The point is we were already discussing this with you in another thread, so it seems kind of unnecessary to be have the same conversation here. If you want to bring up something being discussed in another thread, you can simply link to the appropriate posts in the other, you don't need to start the conversation in that thread do.

JD - as a poster on this forum, I have every right to participate in an ongoing discussion - any ongoing discussion.

You don't like it that I post here and not on another thread? And?
The sheer arrogance you and Sci display in thinking you have a say in the matter is staggering.

For the future - I guarantee you and Sci that your 'imperative requests' will have absolutely no relevance for me deciding where to post and where not.

Re: Before Dishonour....seriously?!

Like I said in the Janeway thread, I'm getting really tired of repetitive conversations, and it just seems unnecessary to have two threads going on where we are discussing the exact same thing.
