Re: WOLVERINE director search down to 8

Buuuuuuuump. Appears Mangold - who would be my least disliked of the bunch - has landed the gig (how come I beat Jackson Archer to this?)

Maybe he's busy finishing up The Fallen.

I thought Walk the Line was ok and same with 3:10 to Yuma, Copland and Girl Interrupted but Day and Knight was pretty attrocious.

No, I think he's still going 'SQUEE! SQUEE!' over today's Dark Knight Rises casting announcement.

Cool. Maybe they can finally start making Wolverine 2 now.

Now the big question I think all of us want answered is, will Mangold ignore X-men Orgins: Wolverine?

Mangold is a pick I can get behind.

3:10 To Yuma is great, Copland is great, Identity is pretty good. And I thought Knight & Day was pretty great, too. It was deftly handled in the balancing act between decent action and comedy.

I think if the script is great, Mangold can do a fantastic job. Not as good as Aronofsky, but you know...

Mangold isn't anything to shout about, but he can be a solid, workmanlike director if the material is on the page. Hopefully he can make a decent film out of The Wolverine.

^ The article above says he's not yet officially confirmed but that he's expected to be.
