Happy 25th Anniversary Top Gun

I'm spending a few days in San Diego this week, and I was informed on a tour I went on that this is the 25th anniversary of Top Gun. Heck, I even went to the place where some of the movie was filmed (The Bar scenes) and now I have an urge to watch this move again.

I'm not sure how it's regarded today, but as a kid I loved this movie. I think I still do, but it's been a while since I've seen it. At the time, I loved all the aerial shots of the fighter jet scenes, and this was a hell of a soundtrack (Kenny Loggins in San Diego this weekend probably doing "Danger Zone") and over time, the relationship story has grown in appreciation as well. Still, I thought the fighter jet scenes were really cool and the movie still holds up to this day, and I don't think Cruise has aged all that much since.

Wow. I was 20 when this film was released. For the longest time it was one of the "biggies". It was only later that I heard people talking about it in negative terms, but at the time everyone loved it.

I think it still holds up rather well. I saw it recently and it was still awesome. The sound is excellent too.

It really is the "gayest" Straight movie ever made. Only Fright Night and Nightmare on Elm Street 2 even come close to it.

I must get it on Blue Ray

Fantastic, fantastic movie. One of my top five, certainly.

The jets, the music, the wafer-thin plot, the homoerotic undertones, the military jargon... it's just fucking awesome.

I still have a fondness for the F-14 Tomcat because of this movie.

I have not seen this movie in a really long time, but from what I remember, I bet it holds up well.

I really enjoyed it when it came out.

It's a great movie. It's a daft and oh-so homoerotic movie. But it's great. The flying scenes have not been topped yet.
