^ Agreed. All of those things were probably the intention of the scene. Here's a question...where was Chloe? Was she in Star City? Was she in Metropolis? Or was she in Smallville? I'm assuming that she and Ollie have a swank place somewhere in Star City. I still think that scene would be made perfect if she'd called the kid "Roy".

There wouldn't have been any problem with Chloe reading a Superman comic book to her son. That's completely different than what she had in her hands, especially when in the very same episode they go out of their way to cook up some stupid explanation for why Lex has no idea who Superman is.

Again that scene with Lex and Tess had more to do with Tess redeeming herself than it did Lex having his mind wipe. This bloody comic issue is comical now how it's being nitpicked.

@Checkmate...how am I deluding myself when Tess herself actually said that she was doing that to redeem herself? The character actually said that to Lex, and he had an understanding expression on his face. There was more to that scene than just the mind wipe. Okay...I'll conceed that the scene wasn't "more to do" that was the wrong phrase of words to use. Lex's mind wipe was the sole focus of the scene but it was also to conclude Tess's arc.

I'm not sure what the reason was they didn't have the suit but the hell with WB if it was actually them. They can have fun releasing their Superman film that will once again underperform at the box office. Smallville's been the only good Superman since Superman II.

I could have dealt with the finale better if the actual episode had been better. But what we got is a completely wasted for hour on Clark/Lois angst that ultimately led nowhere, followed by nearly an hour of Clark Kent wasting time and needed to have his hand held by his parents, Jor-El, Lois, and Lex, before an "epic" one punch fight against Darkseid. It's like a parody of everything wrong with Smallville...like the producers idea of a practical joke.

Someone noted that we didn't get the people of Metropolis's reaction to Superman. Their real reaction. I agree with this, especially not having a revealing shot. Superman continues to be more like The Blur in this episode and the name isn't even stated by anyone on-screen.

You were right, Admiral Young, there was no reason to expect otherwise from Smallville but I hoped I would be wrong.

What master plan did she have to bleed on him if not to walk into his knife?

Which means she knew he was there in the office and she wanted to be stabbed.

Which is ridiculous but the only logical way of explaining the balls up that happened.

That Darkside and his minons were all taken out so easily was really disapointing.
I get that Lex's amnesia is to protect Clark's identity, but I didn't like that with complete amnesia Lex is still evil. Why couldn't Superman have tried to befriend him and guide him to be a better person?
I was disapointed about the suit, but whatever.
I thought a lot of the Jonathon ghost scenes were creepy.
I did get the impression that Chole was a single mother, possibly to free up Oliver for a spin off?
I was glad to see new Jimmy, we knew he would be there, and his role was foreshadowed enough to make it expected.
Side point, the actress who plays Granny Goodness has been fantastic, she hit the note of creepy maternal and sickly sweet evil perfectly.

Yeah, I don't like the idea that Lex was born evil. It's very lazy storyline. Now, if Lex was on the way of becoming evil but his intervention with Clark changed that, and then he lost his memories because of Tess, it would actually be a little clever. But I hated the complete memory wipe...I would have preferred if she had just erased knowledge of Clark's powers from his mind.

As I recall, didn't President Luthor learn Superman's secret identity, only to have it wiped from his mind and his computer?

I don't like the whole idea of Lex being born evil or him considering himself to be the villain of the story. I like to think of him as the type of villain who sees himself as the hero of the story, that terrible things he does are for the greater good of humanity and anyone opposing him are just obstacles to that greater good.

He learned and forgot about it all over again during the conclusion of that black ring saga in Action Comics last month.

Lex was telepathically in Superman's mind because he had become a god.

"You're an alien! You don't have real feelings like a human!"

"I don't have real feelings!? Well take a look at this!"

Then we see the image of Superman cradling and weeping over the corpse of Jonathan Kent at the farm, and Luthor is all... Hang on! Wait a second, that's your father? But that's Clark Kent's father... Almost there, almost there, by JOVE YOU'RE CLARK KENT!"

After losing his god powers a few pages later, he lost his god memories.
