They ditched 'The Hour' which is a real shame.

Yeah, it is really a shame. I really liked The Hour. Between that and canceling Being Human and Merlin they've really cut down the amount of shows I look forward to on the BBC. Hopefully they'll have something decent to replace them. Atlantis sounds promising at least.

To be honest when they stated what the ratings of the Hour had been I wasn't surprised. I didn't watch it but in hindsight kinda wish I had.

Atlantis, I don't know, I'm getting an Outcasts vibe from it (and I say that as someone who liked Outcasts) Still its nice to see they are commissioning new genre shows.

Re: BBC Original British Drama

Not sure about an Outcasts vibe, it it was Scrimshaw Pirates then I'd probably have that vibe. It's just a shame it seems to be Dead Man's Boots on genre shows.

I'm not sure why I feel that, it doesn't make a lot of sense, it just has that big epic vibe about it.

Re: BBC Original British Drama

Probably due to the fact they're filming in Africa.
The reason I brought up Scrimshaw pirates is because like Outcasts it was apparently commissioned years ago and hasn't made it to the screen yet, whereas Atlantis isn't something that's been previously announced as far as I'm aware.

Word to the wise, or anyone who's interested: Radio 4's just started a follow-up/side series to Silk, centred on the clerks rather than the barrister's (so Billy, Jake and Bethany are the main characters carried across). 2.15pm on Tuesdays.

Discovered today that a big part of GoT is filmed around Belfast.

Re: BBC Original British Drama

Yep. Quite a few big British and American shows are being filmed in Ireland nowadays. They're hoping to attract them here with a tax break for high end drama costing more than £1.5m per episode. Or something like that.

Both Line of Duty and The Fall were I believe, though in the latter case the story was set in Belfast, whilst the former is supposed to be an unnamed British city.
