For anyone who doesn't know, this is based on the original song by Victoria Wood, "The Ballad of Barry and Freda," as performed on her show Victoria Wood As Seen on TV in 1985. As shown by the loving homage, the song is considered one of the seminal works of British comedy.

I can certainly imagine Jonny B as a big Victoria Wood fan. The gays always are. He probably dressed up as Mrs Overall for Halloween one year.

The Ballad was fun, but needed subtitles in a few places (and I usually don't have trouble with British accents).

Yeah, I had a tear in my eye to see her (and to see how happy she was), but of course I was smiling too. She loved Doctor Who just as much as anyone else.

Thanks for the transcription and annotations - I got most of the references but not all of them. But I don't get the Ming Mong bit. Is this some nickname or something? The page on that link seems to be just copied from Wikipedia.

Both these videos are excellent and I hope the plans for a worldwide fan video sequel to 500 Miles pan out.
