Rory Culkin's character Charlie Walker is the horror movie buff and takes over for Randy. Jamie Kennedy's Randy was among my favorite characters. I don't know Dewy could be more popular than Randy was.

Yep, Randy was a great character. I think Dewy is funny but I like Gale Weathers character more.

To be honest, the whole deconstructing the horror film angle felt trite, obvious and contrived to me before the first movie was even over, especially since it is ground Craven has trodden before.

The second was more of the same, I didn't bother with the 3rd and probably won't bother with this.

I don't care if you liked the films or not. This thread is a discussion for the film, not general discussion of it. If you saw "Scream 4" and typed I hated it...I wouldn't have had any problem. No that's not what you did. You you've no interest in seeing it.

Scream 3 was probably my favorite...but not because it was technically better than the original or Scream 2...just like seeing Jenny McCarthy & Parker Posey in it. And the original was better than 2...but I didn't have any problems with 2...I enjoyed all 3. I am hoping this 4th one will be as entertaining.

agreed. i always felt it was pretty contrived with the half brother and what not. and killing off Cotton was a mistake.

A lot has of that has to do with switching writers. Studios seem to have the mentality of "this movie is coming out at this date no matter what" and if they lose talented people along the way, they simply replace them with less talented people just so the job can be done when they want it done.

Yep. Kevin Williamson should have stuck with the third one. I forgot why he departed the franchise. I'm glad he's back. His involvement with Four is one of the reasons why I'm so excited.
