Looks like they're shooting straight scope. No super35 non-sense this time around.

Re: The Hobbit to be shot at 48fps
This is good news. If guys like Jackson and Cameron continue to champion new tech like this and 3D, with their incredibly successful records, the industry will follow suit sooner or later.
As far as mass commercial entertainment is concerned, film is going the way of vinyl.

Re: The Hobbit to be shot at 48fps
Nope. Think of it in the reverse, my video camera can shoot at 24p. If I show you footage from it you'll probably be able to instantly say "That's video," and you'd be right. The differences between film/digital cinema cameras and video cameras are a whole lot more than how fast the pictures are flashed in front of your face.

Re: THE HOBBIT (2012/2013): News, Rumors, Pics Till Release
It feels like 1999 again! Damn PJ and his people really GET IT. They know what fans want and they know how to whet our appetites in providing wonderful things like this. They do not have to do ANYTHING in advance of the release but it's a way of giving back to their fans while simultaneously raising awareness for the films. A poster on AICN said it well when he he posted that that diary was better than several films he had seen recently at the movies! Is it December 2012 yet?!? |
