Watching VOY straight through
So I've seen the first few episodes. I have a few comments and questions: 1. Do the Vidians show up again? (The Phage). Not too many spoilers, please, but will they bother Janeway and Co again? 2. Is Janeway's animal guide really a lizard? Is that important to any plotlines? In the second or third episode, Chakotay was showing Janeway how to meet her animal guide. 3. Do the warp nacelles bend up for a reason? I noticed during one of the warp scenes they bent up before lighting up. 4. I think the Doctor is a fantastic character. He is crusty, but he's not mean. He is commanding, but then he is the senior doctor, and it is his sickbay. He's got lives to sustain. |

Re: Watching VOY straight through
Also, TAS really is worth at least watching once. I think it's kitschy and charming, and there are a couple really great episodes, IMO. (Also some good books based on the episodes, too.)1) That's giving too much away. But if you find them interesting, I don't think you'll be disappointed.2) Yes. And... um, no, not directly... but, uh, you might want to keep that Janeway = lizard connection in the back of your mind. ![]() 3) It's pretty much because it looks cool, but I believe the in-universe reason is that it distorts subspace less or something. 4) The Doc is definitely a good character to keep an eye on throughout the show. Good luck! |

Re: Watching VOY straight through
One thing I enjoyed about VOY was the Tuvok/Neelix relationship. It is somewhat hard to talk about it without giving away too much.

Re: Watching VOY straight through
Thank you, DoBa, for serving our country in military service. I know the title is "Star Trek," but I like the stationary (erm, no pun intended) aspect of DS9. We got to see non-Starfleet folks like Odo and Quark. And in reply to froot, I actually thought the Vidians were extremely scary. I was hoping they wouldn't show up again. I hope Janeway gets to kick Vidian butt. I hope they all die of that phage and stop bothering people. |

I think you won't be disappointed. I love voyager, and my liking for the series only hit me big time during the second watching. I'm currently at 6x24. |

Re: Watching VOY straight through
: :And OP the Doctor becomes one of Trek's best characters IMHO, all thanks to some very witty writing and fabulous acting. You will see lots more of him. Oh and let me add OP that you should at some point watch TAS because there is an episode with a sehlat in it.
