Kirk's mom gets pilot lead: "Once Upon a Time"

For reasons I cannot explain, fairy tales are big this year. Anyway, here's the news.

Jennifer Morrison has landed the lead in ABC's drama pilot Once Upon a Time. It centers on Anna (Morrison), a woman drawn into the small town of Storybrook, where the magic and mystery of fairy tales may be real.
I'm interested to see whether she can carry a series. Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin is also in the cast, as Snow White, which should be fun.

Almost sounds like they might have been inspired by the "Fables" comic books.

^ That's what I was reminded of as well. I'll check it out.

There's a different pilot called Grimm that sounds closer to Fables, but I'll check out both (and also Ron Moore's 17th Precinct):
Grimm is described as a dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist. It centers on Nick Burckhardt (David Giuntoli), a good-looking detective who starts to see humans as beast/animals and discovered that he has a legacy - to protect "humans" from these beasts.
Speaking of that show, Reggie Lee, the delightfully naaaaasty villain on Prison Break, has just been cast on Grimm. He plays a cop but I sure hope he's really some kind of evil critter in human disguise because he is perfect.
