Trashbash - Klingon Vessel

Long time lurker, first time contributor. I have a habit of seeing ship components in common household items. For example, a Bic razor, when viewed a certain way, has long reminded me of the nacelles on a Klingon D7 Battlecruiser. So whenever I come across an interesting piece, I toss it in a shoebox. This week I finally decided to slap together a model out of the various kibbles and bits I had collected. My model-making skills don’t compare to those of Forbin or other craftsmen that post here, but I am pleased with my results.

Here’s the parts list:
2 Bic Razors
1 Personna Razor and blade guard
1 Bike reflector
1 nightlight (base and bulb cover)
1 pencil sharpener
1 carpenter’s pencil
1 No.2 pencil
1 block of wood
1 water bottle cap
1 marker cap
½ external fuel tank from model of an F4UA Corsair
2 nails
1 pegboard hook
1 lid from an 11.5 oz can of Folgers
Various shapes cut out of PVC Window blinds
Various greebles from Anakin’s podracer

Here’s the completed model. I may do a few more tweaks to it, but it is basically done.

Though it looks as menacing as any Klingon ship, I think its origins in the trash bin dictate that it be a garbage scow.

I like it! I looks Klingon and the materials used to make it? I'm impressed!

Shouldn't it be more greenish, though? Klingon ships were usually greenish.

Still, it's great!

A garbage scow, hmmm? Now Scotty can point to IKS Trashbash any time Klingons try to diss his ship!

Re: Trashbash - Klingon Vessel

Hey, that's pretty good. Most original Klingon models I've seen end up feeling like obvious kitbashes, but this is so obviously Klingon, it's great.

Starfleet Engineer: "We needed something to fit between a cruiser and a frigate, so we engineered this, based on prior existing components, to cut down on warp hull dynamics test timne. All components were scaled to the test frame, and aesthetic integration occured at the ASDB Facility on Mars at 0800 hours."

----------------------

Klingon Engineer: "Yeah, you wanted something big, but not tiny either." (Burp) "Got it."

I really like the modular design on this one, it harkens back to TOS.
Plus the marble-effect paint job is great!

Very nice! May I suggest taking some pics using different lighting conditions. I posted some a while ago using a black felt dropcloth, and used red, green, and blue LED lights to get different coloured affects on a bluish hulled ship... And use a super dark room!

I'd really like to see that. There's nothing like a physical model and the play natural light and shadow has on it...

Looks to me like a stealth cruiser from maybe the early 2100's

Re: Trashbash - Klingon Vessel

Also, its a very neat idea to use scrap parts and so on to create something that nice looking.

Thanks.

Regarding the color, Henry of the House of Ford told me I could have it in any color as long as its green. I thanked him for his input, gutted the petaQ and went for blue.

Re: Trashbash - Klingon Vessel

I think it looks very good, for a "trashbash" design. Guess we can add that to the modelmaking dictionary now.

I'll try to post some pictures as you suggested. I don't have any black felt, but I'll see what I can improvise.

Here's a tagged photo pointing out the various bits of trash. Most were probably obvious, but hey...
