Geoff Johns announces Aquaman ongoing comic!

I've never before been this excited about an Aquaman comic, and really it was inevitable given his fondness for Mera and writing Arthur in "Brightest Day". I doubt many others here will care much lol.

Stupid Aquaman canceling Flash.

Okay, not really, but it still was stupid for DC to can The Flash after just restarting it and giving the character its own summer crossover.

i'm actually fond of Aquaman, despite all the jokes about him being useless. the Peter David run had some good stuff and the Kurt Busiek run, which was a different Aquaman, was great.

I suspect Broc that after "Flashpoint" (which is kind of a AOA type of thing and a Flash centric event) ends that we'll see a couple ongoing Flash books. One for Barry, and one for Wally. That is if they survive Flashpoint...Bart and Booster are stuck in the reality as well.

Geoff Johns on Aquaman, eh? Black Manta's going to eat Arthur Junior this time.

The Flash is canceled? Hunh? When did this happen?

Normally I wouldn't care about Aquaman but if Johns is writing it I'll read it.

The only time I liked Aquaman was during the run leading up to Infinite Crisis where Patrick Gleason delivered the most beautiful art of his career and they had the very interesting premise of Sub Diego; half of San Diego fell into the sea and the victims became water breathers who would die on the surface, so Aquaman became the protector of the city. But it was mainly for the Gleason art.

The Sub Diego arc yeah...basically that was the last arc of the Peter David started Aquaman book (whatever volume it was) before they introduced the horrible new Aquaman post-Infinite Crisis.

No, it was a different volume. Because #1 was in like 2003 with a different team, then around #15? it became the Sub Diego Gleason thing. The Peter David one was back in the 90s.

Yeah I thought it was the end of the original book...oh well. I'm looking forward to this. Flash was canceled due to Flashpoint. I don't think DC has announced anything regarding Flash beyond Flashpoint. I think they're intention was something similar to when Marvel "canceled" all the X-books for six months before AOA debuted.

Re: Geoff Johns announces Aquaman ongoing comic!

^ Funny you should mention him because the second thought I had after I read this was...is there an Aquaman movie down the pipeline?? With Geoff Johns material being used in "Green Lantern" and potentially "Superman" and "The Flash" films I'd be shocked if there wasn't some kind of project down the line.

They are relaunching the book. This is just another "cancellation" ploy borrowed from Marvel like their "cancellation" of Fantastic Four. And people fall for it everytime. *Sigh*

Grab your bulb wrench fishman! I think Johns might be pushing it trying to make this character interesting. But I suppose once he completely reinvents some never before revealed history I will be hooked and keep reading. Damn you Johns!

Re: Geoff Johns announces Aquaman ongoing comic!

Aquaman has untapped potential. Peter David I believe has done the most to make Arthur interesting and enhance his supporting cast and villains. Aquaman is usually reduced to being the brunt of jokes (even among his own teammates in some cases) I'm looking forward to seeing what Geoff Johns does with him. He's already turned Mera into a fan favorite (I didn't know much about her until she rose to prominence during Blackest Night).
