Honestly, folks.

Of all the actors, in all the world... they got one from Australia.

And what a conicidence. Her last major role was... V. 28 years ago.

What are the chances?

Well he does acknowledge there is value in the publicity. Regardless it doesnt matter, she did audition and most fans of the original V loved her. So its win win for both sides.

The other thing was just wanting to make sure there wasn't going to be a backlash [to casting Jane] in the sense of 'It's too kistchy' or 'Oh God, they have to go there to get attention for the show'."
Oh God, they have to go there to get attention for the show.

And I'm sure Marc Singer also happened to be the best actor for the role he's getting later in the season.

There's no shame in stunt casting. I don't know why they have to deny it.

I just found out that he's going to be on the show. I can't wait to see him take down lizard men with his crotch.

Re: 'V' Badler 'not cast for publicity'

I don't mind stunt casting(Scotty or Spock in TNG for instance) but a lot of shows these days do it in a desperate attempt to save an already mediocre show rather than enhance an already solid one. It reminds me of the need to bring in Brent Spiner or William Shatner to ENT or the old cast from Melrose Place to try to salvage the horrible CW remake or the rumors swirling about bringing in the old DALLAS cast for the TNT sequel series.

And usually what happens is the show itself isn't interesting enough and the person you tune into to see is featured very little because the focus of the writers are on their new characters--problem is no one is interested in them and want more of the old guard--plus the old faces just underscore how much you miss the original and how woefully inadequate the remake is.

Okay, I have to ask: Taking down lizard men with his crotch?

Seriously? Singer's gonna be on the show as well? So much for there NOT being stunt casting. That ship has not only sailed, it hit a chunk of ice and sank.

Now if they can get Michael Ironside to play Ham Tyler again, then that's some stunt casting I can forgive...

That's a misleading headline and doesn't match what was said in the interview which is unfortunately common these days. The correct headline should be something like "Badler not cast just for publicity'.

A show source tells me exclusively that Marc, who played freedom fighter Mike Donovan in the '80s version, will be playing a new character named Lars Tremont. Lars is a member of a super top secret organization comprised of high-ranking military and government leaders from around the globe, who have long suspected that the Visitors — despite what they tell us — are very much not here in peace.

I think the current cast should be fired (except for Joel Gretsch and Morena Baccarin) and replaced by actors from the old show.

Let's start the "Bring back Ironside" movement now.

We'll see how adverse they are to stunt casting when she see a second terrorist cell show up staffed by Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman.

I guess in the end it wont matter. The show is trying to be like LOST when it comes to plot advancement. That will be its early demise.

It started as a Joke, but hugo is probably affordable and Natalie has a baby to make and care for that she wants somehting that doesn't involve a lot of travel... But yeah, Hugo is affordable.
