Re: New Catalog covers and info- cover/info not final
Which I guess means I need to rephrase my previous question of: If Fearful Summons is a sequel to Undiscovered Country and Cast No Shadow is supposedly also a sequel to Undiscovered Country does this mean that Shadow is expanding on Summons or covering what Summons did not?

Re: New Catalog covers and info- cover/info not final
Cast No Shadow, on the other hand, is a sequel in the more meaningful sense, in that it directly follows up on a story thread from TUC; but it's set 7 years later, in 2300. So there's no reason to expect any kind of overlap.

Re: New Catalog covers and info- cover/info not final
![]() Seriously, though - I never really thought of Cast No Shadow in terms of being a sequel to anything, but I guess it is in some ways. During the writing it felt more like a Lost Era story, a "missing chapter" kinda thing. It doesn't expand upon on or draw from The Fearful Summons. What you have in Cast... is a scenario unfolding seven years after the events of The Undiscovered Country that grows out of the aftermath of the Khitomer Accords. Valeris and a young Elias Vaughn are drawn into a dangerous situation, and both of them find themselves at crossroads in their lives, forced to evaluate their choices and deal with the threat at hand. There are also some flashbacks in there, too. |

And 2300 is indeed part of the Lost Era, even if the book isn't labeled that way.

Re: New Catalog covers and info- cover/info not final
How does Vaughn fit into the plot if it's a sequel to a movie where he never appeared in? Also, did you have to re watch the film before writing this?

How did Chekov fit into ST II if he never appeared in "Space Seed"?
