Re: Doctor Who: The Figure Thread
It seems to be the pattern that Character Options (in cooperation with Underground Toys and Forbidden Planet) will release a (debatably) less popular version of a character first with the knowledge a certain percentage of collectors will buy it immediately and later release the more memorable version. This is actually a very smart marketing plan. If they were to release the more iconic version first, fans would more likely buy that one right away, but possibly outright ignore the "variant" if it's released later. Having stated this and suspecting the strategy, I will likely get the jackel headed figure anyway because there is always the chance conditions may "go south" and the iconic "helmeted" figure may not get released. And that's what CO hopes, the collectors' "fear" of an aborted line will drive them to buy the earlier "variant" release. It certainly helps to offset the cost of development. If I were in the business, that's what I'd do. Sincerely, Bill

Re: Doctor Who: The Figure Thread
![]() Yes, that's The Brig and Jo Grant. ![]() The likeness on the Jo figure looks pretty crummy, unfortunately. Still getting it though. It's expected to be released in January.

Re: Doctor Who: The Figure Thread
A neat feature about the Jo figure, the set will have alternate arms without the "fur" sleeves and the coat can be removed. So, in effect, like the Tom Baker figure with swapping heads, you'll get two figures in one. Oh, I must revise my observations about the Sutekh figure. Alistar Dewal (one of the key people at either Character Options or DesignWorks) "twitted" a purposely cryptic comment that a "follow up" Pyramids set will be released, but only the first one will have the "complete" Sutekh figure. One will need to get the first for the second to work. This has lead some fans to speculate the second set will contain Sutekh's "mask" but not a full Sutekh figure. Again, that part is speculation, but Dewal was clear that the second set is basically useless without the first. Sincerely, Bill

Re: Doctor Who: The Figure Thread
Actually, it's not a great likeness for her either, but, that figure looks closer to Liz Shaw's face then Jo Grant's to me
