Re: The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

I like the notion of Batman fighting in the day time since it seems that one of Bane's goals is to make Batman uncomfortable and draw him out to confront him. Knightfall has been mentioned as a source for the script along with No Man's Land. What's interesting is in both those stories Bruce was absent from Gotham for a time.

Yeah, I couldn't understand the two guys talking as Gordon goes to the podium.

Guy- The mayor's going to dump him(Gordon) in the spring

Matthew Modine's character- Really? but he's a hero

Guy- A war hero. This is peace time
thanks. that first line was impossible for me to make out.

I didn't have any trouble understanding it.
EDIT: I just watched the trailer again, and I had no trouble understanding any of the dialogue at all. I don't know if it was just because I knew what was being said, or if I changed something without realizing, but everything was crystal clear to me this time.

Just saw this update on the Bane voice situation. Apparently the studio is really starting to get concerned about it now.

I've said as much.
Feedback coming is that like the early GL footage they frakked it up by having an iffy first big push trailer.

Like another said, how many times will people see it? If it's still hard to understand maybe only the once. I'm not paying another $11 to see a movie, in English, where subtitles are needed multiple times. So Joe Q Public who saw TDK 3-4 times might just say, to hell with it, once is enough.

Warners admitting they are in damage control should be enough for the "I trust Nolan-ites" to perhaps say,"What does god need with an audio remix?"

iffy first big push trailer.
I'm no fan of GL anyway but what was iffy about the first trailer? It represented the film while plugging the humor aspect. It was no more or less iffy than any other trailer. It was, in essence, selling the movie as is.

I wish they'd do something about Bale's voice as Batman. There's something seriously wrong when your first instinct is to burst out laughing whenever Batman starts speaking. Bale's Batman voice is so bad that it can keep the film from getting four stars. I don't have a hard time believing that Nolan thinks Bane's voice is fine because he's let Bale talk in that fucking stupid grunt for the past two movies and I'm sure this one too.

I thought Bane's line in the trailer was very easy to understand. But having your characters speak incoherently is NOT good filmmaking. Just like rapid fire editing during the fight scenes in Batman Beings was not good filmmaking.

I thought the most incoherent line in the trailer was when they were speaking of the Mayor and Gordon.

That being said, I thought the trailer looked great.

The f/x on that were not up to par for one thing.
Another that may only matter if you like Hal was it clearly felt too humorous in ways that Hal just isn't...or wasn't pre his revamp after being resurrected.
Subsequent trailers didn't help, which I'm sure will for TDKR but the point is 'Don't release a first trailer with iffy anything', visuals, f/x or the emphasis here is audio.

Then please tell me what the story is. From all I can gather from the trailer alone, the movie is about Bane destroying a football stadium and Batman fighting him because of it.

Seriously though, the trailer is a montage of cool stuff happening, but with no context on why or how things are happening.
Some of that is in the dialogue; enough to be more than 'no indication'.
*head desk*

Good...keep on missing that forest for the trees, my friend.

Between the visuals, the dialogue, and the text, this trailer gives greater than zero indication of "what the story is going to be".

Batman's voice is really not a big deal for me. As I've pointed out in the thread before and other threads I look at it as Bruce just hasn't had the time nor the desire to perfect his voice.

I had a lot of trouble understanding Bane in the IMAX theatre, but then when I watched it again on YouTube, it seemed much clearer. I wonder if maybe it was just the theatre I went to or... what... I dunno.

As for Batman's voice. I thought it was fine in "Batman Begins," but in "The Dark Knight" it grated on me in spots. Particularly at the climax, it sounded like he was talking through a stuffy nose. Overall I'm fine with it, but sometimes it does get to be too much.
