Since we've only recently gotten into it, for my family this will be the christmas of buying stuff online. I love you, eBay and Amazon.

eBay is brilliant for gifts. For her last birthday my daughter wanted a piccolo, and I got her one from eBay for less than half what I would have had to pay in a high street shop. I'm planning to sell her old oboe on eBay soon, and if I make enough I'm going to buy a Scaletrix car racing set as the big "family gift".

A present I ordered for my mother arrived yesterday. It is a large book of Xmas themed word searches.

Also one of my middle son's presents arrived. It is a book of the entire series of Blazing Combat comics (there were 4 issues with 29 stories).

I am really loving the Amazing wish list. I've used it in the past but this year I'm taking full advantage of it. What I love is that you can add comments next to each item and give them priority rankings. I also like that it hides from me when anything on the list has been bought, it still shows up as available to me but not to others viewing the list. The only time it warns you is if you are about to buy something off the list yourself that someone already bought for you. I also like that you have the option of letting the buyers send to your address without them seeing it, so if anyone on the web feels like sending me a gift it will be sure to arrive at my door! Not that I expect much of that to happen.

For several years, I've been planning to remodel my kitchen, but I've had to postpone it a couple times. Finally... I met w/ the contractor today, and we're going to sign the contract on Monday. I wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly, but I'm actually going to have my new kitchen by Christmas! OMG, I'm so excited!

Oh yeah, and I'm getting a new computer

It's less an awesome gift and more necessity. Much of my current one dates back to October 2001 (many replacements and upgrades over the years), and it's making the death rattle of impending hard-drive faliure. Again. That computer's been really good to me.

The 24" monitor? Well...that's necessary, too

It is. Especially so if you're ordering at Amazon.co.uk from Germany. I've saved several hundred Euros over the last couple of years just by ordering DVDs and videogames from the UK.

I restrict who I buy presents for, and those I do buy for tend to get the same thing. Well not exactly, but some variation on the theme of a bottle of nice wine or a box of good chocs.

If they're an alcoholic/non-drinker they get the chocs; if not (or if I know they're trying to lose weight), they get the wine.

As promised, my Christmas present shopping is now done.

Ordered a large hamper of various foodie treats, which can be divvied up and allocated appropriately on arrival, and a mixed case of decent wine which will suffer the same fate. Both ordered from the Wine Society which really does make Christmas shopping ever so simple.

That should cover just about everybody who deserves a present from me. And if there's anything left over, I get an extra indulgence or two over the holidays too.
