TrekBBS Holiday Wishes and Greetings 2010

During this festive time of the year I thought it would be nice to have a specific thread where everyone could wish their fellow TrekBBS members a Happy-Merry-Joyful-Holiday-Christmas-Kwanza-Hanukkah-Chanukah-Solstice-Festivus. Found or homemade, it is up to you how and what you share. You can post a poem written for the BBS or do a Holiday thread bomb or share pictures of your Festivus pole or show-off your crazy outdoor decorations or sing a song or just write a simple message. My only stipulation is that it has to be something positive and from the heart.

(We did something similar last year and I thought it would be fun to do it again. I just wish I had started the thread earlier so everyone would have more time to participate. I have been so busy it slipped my mind.)

__________________________________________________ _______________

And since this is my Holiday thread it is only right I get us started…

I created this Holiday card for my fellow BBSers…

I also “Trekified” this Christmas Song for your amusement. I would sing it to you but I don’t want to be warned for trolling.

The Trek Christmas Song

Replicated chestnuts roasting on an open holographic fire,
Comets nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by an android choir,
And Red Shirts dressed up like Andorian Eskimos.

Everybody knows a targ and some mistletoe,
Help to make the nova bright.
Tiny Borg with their optics all aglow,
Will find it hard to regenerate tonight.

They know that Santa's warping on his way;
He's loaded lots of tricorders and phasers on his sleigh.
And every starship ensign is going to spy,
To see if robot reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm transmitting this simple phrase,
To Starfleet personnel from one to one-thousand-ninety-two,
Although its been translated many times, many ways,
A very Merry Trek Christmas to you.

Lyrics and song by Torme and Wells with a little Trek from yours truly.

I hope you enjoy my meager offerings. And may each of you find yourselves having a truly fantastic season. It is all of you that make this place feel like a second home. Happy Winter Solstice!

I'll set my mind percolating and see if I get inspired for another story. My brain's bizarrely creating dreams involving going through portals to 1940s New Zealand, so I'm not sure what will happen

Well, I don't have any new stories or poems handy at the moment, but I definitely want to wish all my fellow BBSers a very merry holiday season. I hope all... er, most... of your wishes come true (nothing involving Zombie apocalypses or a return to the gold standard, please). And I hope you all have a truly wonderful 2011.

Today I found this bit of awesome for you folks to enjoy. It just isn’t Christmas without hearing Vince Guaraldi doing the Peanut’s jazz version of O’ Tannenbaum. Pure magic.

And I wonder if I could get Flukie to repost the excellent Holiday recording he did last year. Pretty please with sugar and cinnamon on top?

Here is my little Christmas tune for y'all to enjoy.

God rest ye merry, Mod'rators,
Let nothing you dismay,
For trolls and jerks and spammers
Will strike again today,
To post their rude and naughty stuff
While we debate all day
O friendlies, warnings and bans
Warnings and bans
O friendlies, warnings and bans.

I should record myself singing it...treat you guys to my soothing tenor of a voice...

I can't sing, since I have the kind of voice that sounds like a 45-rpm single played at 33. And even then, it's a foghorn.

That being said, I'll just say Merry Christmas to all. Oh, and tsq, I love that song.

I can't make fancy pictures and I don't have time to knit you all wooly socks, so I'll wish you all a happy holiday and a peaceful, positive 2011. Heck, I can't even embed YouTube videos (it always screws up when I do it), so my meagre offering is a link to my favourite Christmas special, The Flint Street Nativity. The entire show can be watched in seven segments on YT, and this is the first:

Flukie is having some issues with his internet but he asked me to post this...

The 2009 Holiday Message!

He put this together from submissions we gave him. It was so amazing I had to post it again.

Awesome messages so far! Merry or happy whatever you're celebrating!

I'm singing in church on Sunday. I'm recording it, and if it turns out, I'll post a link.
