Re: Minecraft

Small update to 1.7.3 tonight to fix some minor piston glitches. So we all get to reinstall our textures.

On the plus side, it doesn't seem to have affected the server.

Hopefully you don't have to register to see this, but here are some nifty tips for home decorating.

Re: Minecraft

Underground houses/fortresses of DOOM are my favorite. I love it when I find lava naturally flowing out of a hole in the side of a cliff, it looks so AWESOME to build a fortress around. And now that we have pistons, I might finally be able to create a door hidden behind lava!

Built a temple (loosely based off the Mormon Temple in Logan Utah. But what is really awesome is on the second floor, I built a playable keyboard.

That right, a keyboard.

Re: Minecraft

Notch released another 1.8 screenshot, this time showing a "stronghold" (which seems to be a massive dungeon complex) with a ravine running through it. He hasn't explained what the grey reed-like thing on the right is, but I'm guessing that it's barbed-wire.

Re: Minecraft

Definitely some new types of blocks there. I wonder what they are.

Re: Minecraft

I hope that new brick block can be manufactured using smooth stone and isn't a unique item that you can only find in strongholds, like mossy cobblestone. It would be a good new building material so long as it's not in limited supply.

Re: Minecraft

Didn't Notch at one time say mossy cobble would be made to spread or something? I always thought that would be cool. You would need a way to scrape the moss off, though, if you just want regular cobble from it. Shovel or something?

Re: Minecraft

Looks awesome. The ravines look like we'll need to bring material with us at all times when exploring in order to get across some of them.

Re: Minecraft

Yep, when 1.8 comes out, I will have to build a road to new unexplored areas on the server so we can find the new stuff

Re: Minecraft

It seems that the Adventure Update isn't going to be released until late August/early September. Damn lazy Swedes, if they didn't eat, sleep or take bathroom breaks, we'd probably get it by the end of next week, but Notch refuses to do that.

Re: Minecraft

I'd love to think it's being held off that long so it can be thoroughly tested and nicely polished for its release, but who am I kidding? Notch will take several vacations, add half-assed features (and then get bored with them before they're done), then release it abruptly with a brief announcement on Twitter, right before he goes on another two-week vacation with no Internet access.

Well, he is getting married in August, so I'm willing to cut him some slack for that.

Re: Minecraft

I didn't know that. I hope he doesn't do any kind of release around that time.
