The pilot helmets also had a decal printed on them that was reminiscent of TOS helmet crests.

Re: "Blood & Chrome" to move forward

i am quite happy about the premise of this project but a bit disappointed that its going to start 10 years into the war, personally I would have liked to see them start it a few months before the first cylon war and show you the events leading up to it, though I am sure they will be backstory flashbacks...maybe? please?

Not necessarily. The story of Blood & Chrome focuses on one particular mission in the Cylon War, and so there likely won't be any further info revealed which isn't directly tied into that.

After all, Band of Brothers doesn't go into full detail of the history and politics of World War II.

There may be a cameo from Esai Morales as Joseph Adama showing his displeasure at the younger William going off to join the Colonial Fleet, or the off-handed references to Greystone Industries, but I doubt there will be much more than that.

True, but BAND OF BROTHERS was very much a limited series. If BLOOD & CHROME lasts as a series, I see no reason why it won't seek to expand its canvass in order to avoid becoming tired.

I suppose when you put it that way. I was only thinking of this one telemovie.

Oh, sure. I would be very surprised if the two-hour opener had anything but the vaguest of references to anything pertaining to CAPRICA.

Re: "Blood & Chrome" to move forward

I too was thinking of it in the terms of a series and not just the telemovie planned, I should clarify that I was not just hoping for caprica references but to actually see how
the war came about, what was it that set the cylons off to destroy man etc, I guess they would have possibly explored that further in caprica had it not been given a premature axing. also sorry for my typo, it should have read " I am sure THERE will be "

All in all I am just hoping the Battlestar world continues and thrives, thus perhaps forcing a new Trek series? ok I am not sure how outside of if people support this brand
of sci-fi it may become profitable for others to try.

The Blood & Chrome telemovie now has a director: Jonas Pate, a co-executive producer on Caprica. On BSG, he directed "Colonial Day," and on Caprica, he directed "Rebirth," "Retribution," and the finale "Apotheosis." With his brother Josh, he was the creator of 2005's Surface.

I was hoping Michael Rymer would take the directing job. Oh well. Jonas Pate should be capable.

Re: "Blood & Chrome" to move forward

Hmmm ... while I enjoyed "Colonial Day" (Baltar sleeping during the Quorum proceedings makes me chuckle just thinking about it), I didn't think all that highly of those Caprica episodes (looking forward to "Apotheosis" though). With that in mind, I should think that the most important element for B&C will be its script.

Re: "Blood & Chrome" to move forward

Well, the script will be important, certainly. But the director of a series pilot has the responsibility (and is paid more as a result) of establishing the visual aesthetic that will be carried out in the series proper. Michael Rymer did a great job of that in The Miniseries and "33."

While Pate was certainly capable of following in the foot-steps of Michael Rymer and Jeffrey Reiner on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and CAPRICA, the question remains, will he be able to set out on his own in the direction of a pilot telemovie?

I'm still waiting to hear that Nico Cortez (?) has been officially cast as the lead.
